Tonight kicks-off a midweek of action on Amazon Prime with two matches live from the Premier League.
Both teams could do with a win at St James’ Park where the bottom two sides meet. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are the only side yet to record a victory in the top flight this season and defeat to Norwich City would put them is serious trouble. Only one side has survived after enduring a winless start to the season after 13 games so they need to start putting points on the board ASAP.
The good news for the Toon Army is that they’ve a strong record against the Canaries at home where they’re unbeaten in nine (W7 D2). Surprisingly, Norwich have picked up more points away from home (8) than the Magpies have won at home but Eddie Howe’s side won’t get a better chance to pick up three points at 19/20.
Over 2.5 Goals has landed in six of the last seven and when you consider Newcastle haven’t kept a clean sheet, then they’ll likely need to score at least twice to win. Over 2.5 Goals pays 10/11.
Another side in need of three points are 17th place Leeds United who’s only win in their last seven has come against Norwich.
Visitors Crystal Palace suffered defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend which ended a seven match unbeaten run (W2 D5). The Eagles are usually good for goal and have scored in all but three matches with only Liverpool (a), Chelsea (a) and Brentford (h) shutting them out.
Palace at 2/1 look a bit of value or you can back Patrick Viera’s sideat 11/10 on the Draw No Bet market.
In Scotland, Motherwell welcome Dundee United to Fir Park and must pick themselves up after a 3-0 defeat to Dundee at the weekend. Things were looking up for Well after wins over Aberdeen and Hearts but that momentum has been lost and it won’t be easy against tonight’s visitors who appear to have turned around a minor blip of their own.
United have a good record away from home, which is only bettered by Rangers and Celtic, but Motherwell’s home record is pretty good too (W4 D1 L3) with their only defeats coming at the hands of Rangers, Celtic an opening day defeat to Hibs. It could all add up to a close affair in Lanarkshire and a share of the spoils can’t be ruled out at 11/5.
