Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on Italy and in particular two sides at home who I like the look of to score some goals. Combining both matches give us a nice odds against double.
Atalanta vs Venezia
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Tuesday 30th November, 17:30
High Flying Atalanta take on Venezia at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday. The hosts come into this in 4th, seven points off leaders Napoli. The visitors are in 16th, but are five points clear of the relegation zone.
Atalanta recorded a superb victory in Turin on Saturday as they defeated Juventus 0-1 to go seven points clear of the Bianconeri. Atalanta are now unbeaten in seven in Serie A, winning each of their last three. Their home record hasn’t been great so far this season, but they defeated Spezia in their last home match, winning 5-2. Only three sides above them in Serie A have scored more goals than the boys from Bergamo, with them scoring 28 times in their 14 matches.
After previously going three games unbeaten, Venezia were deservedly beaten 0-2 last time out at home to champions Inter. That was the fifth time the promoted side have failed to score this season, with only bottom side Salernitana scoring less than their tally of 12. Venezia have lost all three of their matches against the sides directly above Atalanta in the league, all by a 2-0 score line.
Hellas Verona vs Cagliari
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Tuesday 30th November, 19:45
Two sides who have had contrasting seasons meet at the Bentegodi as Hellas Verona host Cagliari. The hosts lie in 10th place, just four points behind Juventus in 6th, whereas the visitors are only off bottom spot on goal difference.
Despite taking the lead, Hellas Verona suffered only their second defeat in their last 11 in Serie A, as Sampdoria beat them 3-1. Hellas Verona will be glad to be back on home turf though, as they’ve won each of their five there, scoring 15 goals. Hellas have scored in all seven of their home matches in Serie A, with only Inter stopping them from scoring on multiple occasions. Only Napoli and the two Milan sides have scored more than their tally of 28 in Serie A so far this season.
Cagliari would of been deflated after conceding a last minute equaliser at home to fellow struggles Salernitana last time out. Cagliari have now failed to win any of their last six, and have just one win to their name in Serie A this season. Only Thiago Motta’s Spezia have conceded more goals than Cagliari tally of 29 this season, with 15 of them coming on their travels. Cagliari are the only side in Serie A yet to keep a clean sheet this season and have conceded on multiple occasions in all six of their away matches this season.
Bet of the Day
Atalanta are starting to hit good form in Serie A and will be aiming to cut the gap on the sides above them in the table as they play host to Venezia. The boys from Bergamo will come into this full of confidence following their win over Juventus at the weekend and I expect them to make it four wins in a row over goal-shy Venezia. The promoted side were comfortably defeated 0-2 by Inter on Saturday evening and I expect Gian Piero Gasperini’s entertainers to score at least twice in victory. Two sides who’ve had very different seasons at this point meet at the Bentegodi and it’s hard to see Walter Mazzarri’s Cagliari getting anything out this match. Only Spezia have conceded more in Serie A than Cagliari, with the islanders conceding 2+ in all six of their away games so far. I’m happy to back a Hellas Verona side who’ve won their last five at home, scoring 15, to continue that trend and bag another brace against their struggling opponents.
