Eight teams will take another step closer to Gdańsk this evening as the quarter-finals of the Europa League commence.
Man Utd are 6/4 favourites to lift the trophy, in part thanks to their draw against mid-table La Liga side Granada, but the winners of Ajax’s tie with Roma would lie in wait for United should they progress.
But first they must dispose of the Spaniards and are short enough at 4/7 to win on Thursday. Granada boast a decent home record in La Liga, only the top four in the table have collected more points at home so it might not be a walk in the park for the Red Devils but they should have too much about them and SlipsTips cretainly seems to think so in his match preview where he’s found a 5/6 angle which relies on them winning.
Arsenal’s visitors Slavia Prague will be aiming to knock out British opposition for the third round in a row after putting paid to Leicester and Rangers’ European aspirations. Both victories relied on the Czech’s winning their second legs away from home but this time they travel to the Emirates for a first leg showdown.
The Gunners will be without the increasingly influential Kieran Tierney as well as David Luiz and Martin Odegaard but there’s no doubt they need to go for it here. The Europa League represents Arsenal’s best chance to quaify for next season’s Champions League and will be desperate to to take a lead in to the second leg next week.
Slavia have already demonstrated how dangerous they can be away from home and can get themselves on the scoresheet. Both teams to score appeals at 21/20 and KevMac agrees in his match preview.
