Hearts’ slim hopes of reaching the knock-out stages in the Europa Conference League rely on them winning tonight and hoping Basaksehir take something from Fiorentina. That would be enough to stay in the competition but they’d still need a minor miracle on matchday 6 to go through.
They’ll go in to tonight’s match in good spirits though, despite being in the midst of a miserable run of form. A previous 2-0 win over tonight’s opponents suggests they’re more than capable of picking up a second win in the group and there was plenty of encouragement in their 4-3 defeat to champions Celtic on Saturday.
In the same group Basaksehir will book top spot with a win or draw in Florence. The home side are making heavy weather of things in Serie A, where they’re currently 14th with just two wins from 11, so could be vulnerable against the Turks who are a tasty 4/1 to win.
Norwegian champions Molde have swept all before them domestically and they’ve a chance to book European football after Christmas with a win over Djurgardens. The Swede’s lead Group F by three points but it took an injury time winner for them to get the better of Molde when the sides met in September. The tables could be turned tonight however and in-form Molde are worth backing at 8/11.
Fellow countrymen Bodo/Glimt could make it a double success for Norway tonight. They can no longer progress in the Europa League but a point or more away to FC Zurich will see them drop in to the Europa Conference. The Swiss side are having a horrible season. They’re without a win in the Europa League and in their domestic league, their only victories have come in European qualification against Linfield and Hearts.
That bodes well for Bodo who are a handy looking 21/20 to win. Kjetil Knutsen’s side are in great goalscoring form too. Take out their last two outings against Premier League leaders Arsenal and they’ve scored 19 in their last four. They’re 8/11 to score 2+ or 12/5 to score 3+.
