Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Europa League match in Belgrade, and I’m expecting goals between the reigning Serbian and Turkish champions.

Two clubs battling out for a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League in Group H meet in the Serbian capital tomorrow night as Crvena Zvezda welcome Turkish champions Trabzonspor to the Rajko Mitić Stadium in a match that has potential for goals.
Crvena Zvezda have endured a tough Europa League campaign so far, with their 2-1 defeat at Hungarian champions Ferencváros meaning they’ve lost three of their opening four group matches, leaving them propping up the Group H table. However, Miloš Milojević’s hosts did win their previous group fixture in front of their supporters 4-1 against Ferencváros. Only Monaco have stopped the Serbian champions from scoring in Europe this season, with The Red-Whites having scored 17 goals across their other seven European fixtures. Zvezda’s only two clean sheets in Europe this season have come against Armenian champions Pyunik in Champions League qualifying, conceding in each of their last six.
Trabzonspor thrashed Monaco 4-0 last time out meaning Abdullah AvcI’s side leapfrogged the Ligue 1 side into second place on goal difference. Whilst that’s back-to-back victories at home in the group, the Karadeniz Firtinasi have lost both of their group stage fixtures on the road. In fact, Trabzonspor have conceded six goals across those two defeats on the road, conceding three goals on each occasion. Trabzonspor have found the back of the net in all four of their group-stage matches, scoring on nine occasions.
Bet of the Day
Both Crvena Zvezda and Trabzonspor are very much still in contention for qualifying to the knockout stages of the Europa League but know three points are vital here. The two clubs have been scoring plenty of goals this season but have been suspect defensively in Europe.
Collectively, Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 11/14 of the pair’s European fixtures this season – including in the reverse fixture in the middle of September – and given both teams need the points, I reckon there’s a good chance we’ll see at least three strikes in Belgrade on Thursday evening.
