THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only – for a chance to win. There were no winners last week.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections.
He says: “Last weekend I suggested Hearts would really struggle against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final and boy did they struggle.
“It was a miserable performance from the Jambos under stand-in boss Austin MacPhee and they barely got out of their half and hardy landed a blow on their opponents.
“On Saturday they are odds on at home to St Mirren and that price should come with a wealth warning. The Buddies sit joint bottom of the Premiership with Hearts and 3-1 about them looks too big.
“Finding a St Mirren first scorer is a little more difficult as they have only scored five goals – striker Danny Mullen has one of those – and is 8-1 with McBookie to open the scoring.
“In League One I didn’t know what to make of last weekend’s results with Raith Rovers, East Fife and Clyde all losing and failing to score. I must admit I didn’t see Clyde going down 3-0 at Stranraer having beaten Falkirk away the previous weekend.
“I am prepared to put that result down to a blip as Stranraer scored three goals from just four shots on target. On Saturday Clyde entertain Peterhead and I like the look of 20-21 about them.
“David Goodwillie has 11 league goals from just 10 games and is 23-10 with McBookie for the first goal.
“In League Two Cowdenbeath, who had a run of six wins on the bounce, had the wheels come off a little bit after crashing out of the Scottish Cup to Broxburn. They then followed that with a 0-0 draw away to Stirling before suffering a 3-1 defeat to League Two leaders Cove Rangers.
“Despite a dip in form I still think they should take care of Annan this weekend, with their opponents suffering a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Elgin City last weekend. The bookies can’t find a favourite and McBookie go 6-4 each of two. I would firmly have the Blue Brazil as market leaders.
“Cowdenbeath’s David Cox has hit a run of form scoring five goals from his last 10 matches but he has also picked up as many yellows (and nine yellows and one red in 17 games this season).
“Provided he can keep his game under control he looks a good bet at 7-1 with McBookie for the first goal.”
