WE still have no idea who will grab the final three places in the Premiership’s top six but things could become a little clearer after today’s action.
Dundee v Aberdeen
I tipped Aberdeen to make things even more congested by beating Hibs last time out and the Dons duly delivered with a much-needed 3-1 win.
Jim Goodwin’s men still remain 10th but they are now just two points behind the Hibees and Livingston who currently occupy the last two slots in the top half.
Another win at Dundee today could fire Aberdeen into the top six ahead of a home game with Ross County in the final match before the split.
Both clashes are winnable and the Dons look decent value at 11/10 (William Hill) to beat a Dark Blues side propping up the table.
Both sides desperately need a victory and that should make for an open encounter.
BTTS is priced 23/20 by McBookie and I’ll have a nibble on that as it has come up in the last three meetings.
Dutch forward Vicente Besuijen impressed in Aberdeen’s win over Hibs and looks overpriced at 10/3 with Paddy Power for another goal at Dens Park.
Hibernian v Dundee Utd
The Hibees will look to bounce back from that Pittodrie loss when they host Dundee United in a huge game.
United moved up to fourth after scoring a last-gasp winner at St Mirren and another victory here would pretty much secure their place in the top six.
Their best display of the season probably came at Easter Road when they won 3-0 in the capital back in October.
But Hibs won the other two meetings 3-1 at Tannadice so it’s a tough one to call.
Both sides have derbies next weekend so they will want to get more points on the board to take some of the pressure off.
Over 2.5 goals has come up in all three meetings this term and that makes it a good option today at 29/20 with Unibet.
There’s not much between these teams and that makes a one-goal winning option for either side worth a punt at 13/10 with McBookie.
It could get tasty with so much at stake and I like the 6/4 on offer at William Hill for each team to collect over one card.
Motherwell v St Mirren
Motherwell and St Mirren suffered damaging defeats before the international break but still aren’t out of the top-six picture.
They face off at Fir Park today and it’s a tough one to call as Stephen Robinson returns to his old stomping ground.
Well haven’t won in the league this year so I’m surprised to see them as 5/4 favourites with McBookie and the Buddies as big as 12/5.
But I’m steering clear of backing a result and fancy the half-time draw instead at 20/21 with Bet365.
Ross County v Hearts
Ross County have been kings of the BTTS market for most of the season and that bet pays 19/20 with the same firm when Hearts come calling today.
St Johnstone v Livingston
The final top-flight clash today sees Livingston visit Perth as St Johnstone look to take another step towards safety.
Saints won 2-1 at the Tony Macaroni in the last meeting and look tempting for another victory at 17/10 with McBookie.
Rangers v Celtic
The biggest game of the weekend comes tomorrow as Rangers and Celtic face off.
A win for Gers would take them level on points with their rivals at the top and they are 6/4 with McBookie while Celtic are 9/5 shots and the draw 23/10.
It’s too close to call however and it’s often wiser betting on a busy day for the ref in this game.
William Hill price a red card for either side at 9/4 while McBookie are offering 13/5 on a penalty being awarded which looks overpriced.
Super Singles
- BTTS at Dens Park (6/5, William Hill)
- Each team over one card at Easter Road (6/4, William Hill)
- Penalty at Ibrox (13/5, McBookie)
