Scottish Football Tips: Calm after storm for Celtic & Rangers

02/04/2019 admin

IT’S back to normal after the madness of Sunday’s Old Firm derby which so far has claimed reds for three Rangers players.

Alfredo Morelos was sent off and missed the next four games while Andy Halliday is banned for one after clashing with Scott Brown after the final whistle. Ryan Kent has been cited by the compliance officer and likely to accept a two-game ban but if he does it won’t come into play until Thursday.

It will surely be much calmer on Wednesday with Celtic travelling to St Mirren and Rangers at home to Hearts.

Celtic are likely to make changes – Dedryck Boyata being an enforced one – in Paisley while Rangers will be forced into them for the visit of Hearts.

There’s no value in the Celtic game until teams are revealed as they are no bigger than 1-5 and likely to be a little flat after the weekend fireworks.

The Buddies moved off the bottom after their weekend defeat of Dundee but are 18-1 for a reason. It was 0-0 earlier in the season though in Oran Kearney’s first game in charge and in seven visits to Paisley the champions have won by more than only once so it’s not their favourite venue.

I’ll be on Celtic -1 at 4-7 with McBookie if I like the line-up and Odsonne Edouard to score first at 14-5 with McBookie. Edouard was superb against Rangers and could yet turn into the striker Brendan Rodgers expected when he signed him.

Rangers will be looking for a lift after leaving Parkhead with nothing despite playing well after being reduced to 10 men. Kent’s cracking goals looked to have earned them a point before James Tavernier’s mistake let Celtic in for a late winner.

Hearts could be without weekend hero Uche Ikpeazu who is a an injury doubt and Craig Levein’s side may have one eye on the weekend derby against Hibs and the following week’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Inverness.

Steven Gerrard’s should bounce back with a win even though a best 8-15 with McBookie is a little skinny. They have won six of seven at home to the Jambos and will be looking to give their support something to cheer as they aim to finish second behind Celtic.

Best bet tonight could be Hibs at 11-8 with at home to Kilmarnock with Paul Heckingbottom losing just once in charge since replacing Neil Lennon. Marc McNulty’s been in good form since signing on loan from Reading and is 7-2 at bet365 to score first.

St Johnstone should see off basement boys Dundee, who looked poor at St Mirren, and are 3-4 with McBookie.

And I’m on Livingston to edge out Hamilton at 4-5 with McBookie. If Ryan Hardie starts back him to score first at 10-3 with McBookie.

Recommended Bets

  • Edouard to score first
  • Hibs
  • Hardie to score first
