Leipzig v Bayern Munich
Sadio Mane has the responsibility of filling Robert Lewandowski’s shooting boots as German champions Bayern Munich take on Leipzig in the Super Cup on Saturday.
While Lewandowksi forced his way out to join Barcelona, Mane is a more than decent replacement and is joined by fellow stellar arrivals Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus and Ajax pair Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazrouai.
So Bayern have a menacing look as they prepare to chase down an 11th straight title and Julian Nagelsmann’s side can lay down an early marker against the cup winners.
Leipzig, who finished fourth last season, haven’t beaten Bayern in the previous nine meetings, losing the last three. Another win for the champions is backable at 28-29 with SBK.
Ajax v PSV
For the third year running heavyweights Ajax and PSV contest the Dutch Super Cup, with both clubs now having a new manager at the helm.
Alfred Schreuder has left Club Brugge to replace new Man United boss Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam, while Ruud van Nistelrooy gets his first crack at management in Eindhoven after Roger Schmidt’s exit.
As is the case most summers, Ajax have lost some of their best talents, but this time they have spent big on replacements including Rangers defender Calvin Bassey and new record signing, Netherlands forward Steven Bergwijn from Spurs.
Ajax beat PSV to the title by two points last season and can use home advantage to make amends for their Super Cup defeat of a year ago when they had a man sent off in a 4-0 rout. Take Ajax at 11-13 with SBK.
Leuven v Westerlo
These two Belgian outfits go head to head after each starting the league campaign with 2-0 wins last weekend.
Leuven leaked plenty of goals last term and will be looking to improve on their 11th-place finish, while newly-promoted Westerlo are out to show they can compete with the elite.
Backing both to score looks a solid shout at 4-6 with William Hill.
