A top four finish for Newcastle is tantalisingly close but they’ve a promising run of fixtures to finish the season including today’s match at Elland Road against an increasingly desperate Leeds Utd.
The Whites have turned to firefighter Sam Allardyce to keep them up and the Magpies should be wary of their former boss. He’s won more Premier League matches (13) against Newcastle than any other side. He’s probably going to need two wins from the final three matches to ensure survival – a tall order with West Ham and Spurs still to come.
Newcastle have yet to lose a match against teams currently in the bottom half of the table and it’s unlikley that stat will change this lunchtime. Eddie Howe’s side is brimming with quality and with still plenty to play for should be too good for Allardyce’s men at 7/10.
Could you trust Chelsea to win a 1/2? Frank Lampard got his first win last week against Bournemouth but still weren’t totally convincing but the Blues legend has a brilliant chance to claim another three points at home to Nottingham Forest this afternoon.
The Tricky Trees have the worst away record in the top flight, winning just six points on the road all season, but this is a strange time of the season when teams in need can find pull performances out of nowhere. That should be enough to keep punters well away from the home win at such short odds.
Instead double up Newcastle with Manchester United for a 7/5 double. Two 1-0 defeats away from home have allowed Liverpool to close the gap on Erik ten Hag’s men but they’re still in the driving seat for the top four. There can be no more slip-ups though and they should get back to winning ways at Old Trafford against Wolves.
It’ll be a surreal match at Ibrox this lunchtime. The title race is over, there’s officially nothing at stake, there’ll be no away fans and in one dugout a Celtic manager chasing several league records and month away from the Scottish Cup final and in the other a Rangers boss who has his eye on next season and a massive rebuild of his squad.
It’s near impossible to call this one. Ange Postecoglou might ring the changes to utilise his squad with the Premiership trophy already in the bag. Michael Beale has up to eight first team players out of contract at the end of the season so how many of them will he entrust to deliver his first win over the Hoops?
The bookies make the champions favourites to win for a fifth time over the Gers this season at 13/10. Rangers are 9/5 – a big price for what is a pretty meaningless game at home.
With the shackles off we could see goals but Over 2.5 pays just 4/6. Over 1.5 first half goals appeals at 6/4 as does the 2.150 on the 1.0,1.5 First Half Asian Line.
Aberdeen were unlucky not leave Ibrox with something last weekend and have been transformed under Barry Robson. They look a very generous price at 21/20 against Hibs. The Dons have a strong home record and probably should be the other side of evens for this one. Even money on two or more Aberdeen goals should also be on the shortlist.
Livi look ready for the season to end and Kilmarnock can take advantage this afternoon at Rugby Park. Even money looks a little too skinny though. Doubling the home win with under 4 goals pays a more handsome 13/8.
