THERE’S slim pickings for punters in the English Premier League today with just three games to get their teeth into.
But there should still be plenty to interest armchair fans with big guns Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all in action.
Manchester City v Leeds Utd
The action begins with a lunchtime clash between City and Leeds and this should be a feast for the football purists.
Pep Guardiola once branded Marcelo Bielsa the best coach in the world so he will know this game is no gimme for the league leaders, even if they are McBookie’s 3/10 favourites.
It ended 1-1 when these sides faced off at Elland Road and the bookies fancy Leeds to score again, even though City have kept clean sheets in four of their last five matches.
Both teams to score is a best 9/10 at SportNation and that stands a chance as Dortmund showed in midweek that City’s defence can be vulnerable.
William Hill are offering 9/4 on both sides winning over one corner in each half and that also looks decent value in what should be an open game.
Liverpool v Aston Villa
Liverpool host Aston Villa looking for revenge after the 7-2 thrashing in the Midlands that set the tone for a disastrous title defence.
It looked like Jurgen Klopp’s men had returned to form after three wins in a row without conceding but they were outclassed by Real Madrid in midweek.
The 3-1 defeat could have been heavier and it showed that Liverpool’s makeshift central defence is still vulnerable.
That’s why Villa are just 8/15 with McBookie to score and you have to go to over 3.5 match goals (6/4) to find a bit of value.
The anytime scorer market offers decent prices and I like the look of the 14/5 on offer for Villa top gun Ollie Watkins at Unibet while Diogo Jota is 13/10 with the same firm.
Crystal Palace v Chelsea
Chelsea bust more than a few coupons last weekend by crashing 5-2 at home to West Brom after shipping just two goals previously under Thomas Tuchel.
But normal service was resumed in midweek when they beat Porto 2-0 and the Blues should keep it tight again when they travel to Crystal Palace.
The Eagles usually struggle for goals so I fancy a Chelsea win to nil at 11/10 with Genting.
Spurs v Man Utd
The pick of tomorrow’s games is Tottemham’s clash with Manchester United as Jose Mourinho goes up against his old club.
Spurs battered United 6-1 at Old Trafford earlier this season when it looked like they might be contenders for the title.
But it has turned sour for the Special One since then and his side face a fight just to reach the top four.
United were in action on Thursday as they saw off Granada so a Tottenham win looks decent at 9/5 with McBookie. But under 2.5 goals might be a safer bet at evens with Red Zone.
Super Singles
- Both teams over one corner each half at Man City (9/4, William Hill)
- Chelsea win to nil at Crystal Palace (11/10, Genting)
Deadly Double
- Tottenham to beat Man United and Chelsea to win at Palace (320/100, McBookie).
