Central Park may not be the easiest place to find, on an industrial estate out the back of Sittingbourne, but it is a decent track and generally fair. The Sunday night open racing has long had a reputation for quality and tonight’s card looks a tempting one.
The Last Race is Not Too Late
Five opens on the card tonight and it looks like being the Kev Hutton show. Not Too Late was an impressive winner over this trip seven nights back when drawn in 4. She sports the striped jacket of 6 tonight and that should suit her even better at 21.28.
She has only had five starts in her life, beating Winter Derby finalist Amazing Wink in just her second ever outing. A smart recruit in the making, she looks well set to score again.
Skilful Stayer to Bloom
The final of the maiden stayers at 20.54 looks a corker in prospect. Kishlawn Shakira in 2 finally showed what all watchers thought she was capable of last week, setting the quickest time but she faces a far tougher rival in Hutton’s Skilful Daisy.
Daisy was pitched straight into the St Leger upon arriving here, with last week her first run over six bends for six months. Untroubled there, she is capable of quicker than that with a run under her belt.
2021: A Greyhound Odyssey
Hutton’s night can get underway with a win at 20.38 courtesy of Kaiser Kubrick. He has a little to find on the bare form in the book with a number of these but he is one of the best drawn dogs on the card.
The dog outside him in 2 is a smart starter but moved right on the run-up and off at the bend from 3 last time out. He looks sure to do the same again tonight which can give the selection the freedom of Kent on the rails.
Time to Catch Christmas Dinner
The 20.17 is a cracker of a contest where Dave Lee’s Chasing Turkey gets the nod. He is a slick starter which is an important asset in this contest, tending to do well on his first go back at a track, as he is here.
This is a deep affair that includes the in-form Bubbly Maverick and the 2020 Derby finalist Smurfs Machine but Lee’s charge has the early gears to lead which will mean his opponents will need to sprout wings to catch him.
Young’s Girl Too Hot to Handle
A slot between a pair of slower starters looks a great berth for Chilli Habanero to work from. There is plenty of early pace amongst the three outside runners but she should be able to control the inside.
She has shown a nice level of form so far, clocking a solid 29.20 in a recent trial. That is a quality first look and wouldn’t take much building upon to land the 21.12 for Paul Young.
