Day two of Newmarket’s Dubai Future Champions Weekend on Saturday is headlined by the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes at 2.55pm, the traditional end of season Championship contest for the leading 2YO colts in Britain and Ireland.
Racing at Newmarket on Saturday is from 1.10pm-4.45pm and there’s a fantastic supporting card, including the famous Cesarewitch Handicap.

1.10 – Dubai Nursery (7f)
The Richard Hannon-trained CAPTAIN’S BAR had to really scrap for his success at Haydock a couple of weeks ago and the late rally he staged bodes well for this step up to 7f.
He gets Ryan Moore’s assistance now and, while this is tougher, he can improve again. Newbury winner American Star and Karl Burke’s improving Bullet Force may head up the dangers.

1.45 – Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes (Group 3, 1m2f)
This has got the potential to be a spectacular afternoon for trainer Charlie Appleby and he’s got a brace of outstanding candidates for the Godolphin-backed Zetland Stakes in GOLDSPUR and Hafit.
The latter was a good second in Listed Haydock event five weeks ago, having won on debut over on the July Course here, and is massively respected, but the manner in which Goldspur draw clear on debut at Sandown under James Doyle last month was impressive.
Stepping up in trip should suit him and he may take the scalp of his well-thought-of stablemate.

2.20 – Emirates Autumn Stakes (Group 3, 1m)
William Buick may feel he’s got a point to prove on COROEBUS after they got chinned in the Group 2 Royal Lodge over C&D a fortnight ago.
They scampered four-lengths clear inside the last two-furlongs but the Dubawi colt got a bit lonely and he was collared late on by Royal Patronage.
That sets a lofty standard and Buick will surely be eager to keep his powder dry for a bit longer before hitting the front. Imperial Fighter is a danger, while United Nations looks best of Aidan O’Brien’s trio.

2.55 – Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1, 7f)
The main event and NATIVE TRAIL is the latest Charlie Appleby-trained contender fancied to thrive.
The Oasis Dream colt is 3-3 so far and won the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh last month in impressive style.
It’s not just his winning run that impresses, but defeats of (amongst others) Royal Patronage, Masekela and Point Lonsdale ensure the form is of the rock-solid variety. He’s hard to oppose.
Supplemented Straight Answer for Ger Lyons and once-raced April Curragh maiden winner Glounthaune for Aidan O’Brien are fascinating Irish raiders, while Champagne Stakes winner Bayside Boy and Coventry hero Berkshire Shadow add depth on the British challenge.
Go Bears Go has a fine record sprinting already and is bred to stay this trip – he’s a lively outsider with the dead-eight engaged.

3.35 – Together For Racing International Cesarewitch Handicap (Heritage Handicap, 2m2f)
Willie Mullins has won the last three renewals of the Cesarewitch and he’s got a whopping six contenders now, any of which might go well.
Ryan Moore is booked to partner M C MULDOON, second in the 2m4f Ascot Stakes when last out on the level. His claims are strong.
Saeed bin Suroor’s Live Your Dream was second in a C&D trial last month and is well-handicapped from the same mark with Adam Farragher claiming 5lb, while Goobinator is another with a jumping background, and has won his last two on the Flat.

4.10 – Dubai British EBF Boadicea Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Listed, 6f)
We’ve seen her only once this season but Scarlet Bear was most impressive in a novice contest at Pontefract in the spring on first appearance for William Jarvis and can go well fresh.
She is much-respected but ADAAY TO REMEMBER was third over this trip here in this grade in August and is a former C&D winner with every right to be challenging here again.

4.45 – Darley Stakes (Group 3, 1m1f)
A Group 1-winning miler in his pomp, Barney Roy was a winner in that grade in Germany 13 months ago when we saw him last and, with a strong record fresh, has to be given serious consideration for Team Appleby and Buick.
Mostahdaf’s lone defeat came in a Royal Ascot Group 1 on fast ground, he bounced back at Sandown recently in Listed company and is a massive threat, but perhaps BRENTFORD HOPE can deliver the sort of performance of which he has looked capable at times.
The 4YO will be well suited by any rainfall and was second in a French Group 3 last time out.
