TUESDAY was another dramatic night and I called the Rangers v Aberdeen game badly wrong.
Without top scorer Sam Cosgrove I reckoned the Dons would struggle but fair play to Derek McInnes who put one over Steven Gerrard with what I saw described as a “tactical masterclass”.
There was no live coverage of the Scottish Cup tie due to UEFA rules so I watched an impressive Juventus qualify by overturning a 2-0 deficit against Atletico Madrid then saw the Man City goals as they demolished Schalke.
In what’s a wide open Champions League either of those teams are capable of going all the way.
I had a few winners on my Champions League preview but my only success on the top tips was a 7-2 btts double with the third leg void and that just about made it a break-even day.
Greg’s nap was a 4-5 winner with Falkirk scoring but tip of the day went to Chelseagirl who suggested 2-0 Aberdeen at 50-1 and that was some shout.
On Wednesday we have the final two Champions League quarter-finals and both are nicely poised after 0-0 draws in the first leg.
Tie of the night is Bayern Munich v Liverpool and while there is no doubt this could go either way I’m siding with Jurgen Klopp’s men and scoring an away goal could be crucial for them.
Barcelona should take care of Lyon at the Nou Camp and I’m backing the Spaniards plus goals.
I’ve posted a preview on the Champions League games and check out kevinmac’s thoughts on Bayern v Liverpool here.
Tonight’s other tie was also 0-0 but I’m on Barcelona and over 2.5 goals at 1-2 with McBookie when they entertain Lyon. The French won’t stop Lionel Messi who is 11-5 to score first.
Elsewhere there are seven Championship games and as usual they are tough to call in midweek.
I’m putting the same Top Treble as is in Wednesday’s Daily Record and I’m taking Messi to score first as the Super Single. I tipped Cristiano Ronaldo on my Juve preview and Messi often follows him in.
2pts Super Single
- Messi to score first
- (11-5, Unibet)
3pts Top Treble
- Liverpool to score
- Barcelona & over 2.5 goals
- Norwich
- (5-2, McBookie)
