IT’S a big night of football with the resumption of the Champions League taking pride of place.
First up is an all-English battle between Spurs and Man City while Ajax entertain Juventus. I’ve posted my thoughts on both games in a Champions League preview.
And kevinmac has previewed both games – so check them out here. His thoughts on Ajax v Juventus are similar to mine and we’re both going strong on a Liverpool success. His Anfield preview is here.
Elsewhere there is the first part of a full midweek English Championship card and I’ll be taking a close look at the games in the morning.
At first glance Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday look best bets at home to Stoke and Nottingham Forest respectively. And if they believe they can still beat the drop Bolton might be worth a look at 4-1 against a Middlesbrough currently the worst in the division.
In League One Sunderland v Burton is the big game and while the home men have put themselves into a good position they won’t get it easy against a side who beat Barnsley at the weekend and are in good form.
There are big games in the Scottish Championship affecting the top and bottom. Ross County can all but clinch the title with a home win against Dunfermline and they are a Super Single contender at 6-5 with Betway.
Just four points separate the bottom five and of the sides go down automatically. Alloa gave their hopes a massive lift with a stunning win at Falkirk on Saturday and travel to a Morton side nervously looking over their shoulder.
Alloa are pretty big at 13-5 with Marathonbet and I can see them avoiding defeat. Queen of the South are still in trouble and could pick up something at an Ayr side safely in the play-offs.
I’ll have a good look at stats in the RFO before putting up tips around lunchtime.
On Sunday night I’d planned to do a Chelsea/Bologna double but then added Hamburg and it was the Germans who let me down for a treble with a terrible defeat at home to Madgeburg.
Well done to all the winners including Greg who alerted a lot of people to the fact Rangers reserves were a massive 8-1 at home to Hibs – even though team news suggested they’d be weakened. And one of kevinmac’s tips was Hazard to score and what a first goal that was.
