ALFREDO MORELOS has been Rangers’ main man this season but the baton will pass to Jermain Defoe tonight.
The Colombian striker picked up his first red of the season at Motherwell so Steven Gerrard will travel to Hibs without his 27-goal star.
It’s a huge loss and Gers can’t afford a slip-up with Celtic having eased five points clear at the top by beating Hearts.
Luckily Gerrard has Defoe in reserve but his game time has been limited because of Morelos’ magic spell and his last goal came at the end of October.
However, Defoe did hit a hat-trick against Hibs in a 6-1 rout at Ibrox in August and is 3-1 at bet365 to bag the opener. To score he is 4-5 at Paddy Power which is short if he’s rusty.
Rangers can’t afford to drop anything here and are no bigger than 2-5 with McBookie against a side unbeaten at home in three since Jack Ross took charge.
Don’t get me wrong, this should be an away win, but ex-Sunderland boss Ross will be looking to take a big scalp and if his side perform at their best they have a chance.
Hibs are as big as 6-1 at William Hill while the draw pays 4-1 and I like both teams to score at 4-5 with William Hill. Rangers and btts could be best bet at 9-5 with McBookie.
The Easter Road side have scored in their last 13 games and are boosted by the return of Australian cap Martin Boyle. He’s good value at 6-1 with Betfred to score.
Recent Hibs v Rangers games have been hard fought and there could be plenty of bookings. Consider a red card at 4-1 with bet365.
Recommended Bets
- Rangers & btts
- (9-5, McBookie)
- Boyle to score
