1.00 – Read Katie Walsh On Betway Insider Handicap (1m7½f)
Aljaryaal had a hint of an unlucky defeat over 1m5f here three weeks ago, kicking into the lead off the home bend only to be worn down by Moel Arthur late on, the pair a long way clear. He’s a contender again but PHOENIX AQUILUS is a massive threat.
He’s 2-2 in staying handicaps on the all-weather and last month’s Southwell success saw Shane Kelly merely waiting to press the accelerator late on. With the runner-up winning his next two, that looks a solid piece of form and this return to a longer trip is a plus.

1.30 – Betway Hever Sprint Stakes (Listed, 5f)
A trappy renewal of the Listed Hever Sprint Stakes and one in which Lord Riddiford is back to defend his crown. He ran well recently at Wolverhampton and joins the likes of Tone The Barone and improving Strong Power in having claims, but EXALTED ANGEL didn’t get the breaks over 6f here at the start of the month in a similar event and could atone for that now with a clear passage back at the minimum distance.

2.05 – Betway Winter Derby Stakes (Group 3, 1m2f)
The feature race and one in which John Gosden bids to saddle the winner for the fourth year running. In dual Group 1 turf winner LORD NORTH he’s got the outstanding candidate. The trip is perfect and this son of Dubawi won his only all-weather start as a novice and has shown himself to go well off a break before. He’s going to be hard to topple. Alenquer and Fancy Man – the latter winner of a Trial here recently – are dangers, while last year’s winner Forest Of Dean faces a far stronger field now.

2.40 – Mansionbet Proud Partners Of The AWC Handicap (1m)
Just seven runners but this is a tough race to work out. Shoot To Kill and Imperial Sands are players, while the classy Oh This Is Us perhaps has too much weight to give away here. To The Bar needs noting on return from a layoff, but HAFEET ALAIN has been in decent form since switching to artificial surfaces and should notch a win somewhere soon.

3.10 – Betway Handicap (6f)
Another fiendish handicap where all have their merits. Soldier’s Minute is the class act, while If You Dare and Crimson Sand are possible improvers, but ASADJUMEIRAH has found his groove with successive 6f wins at Newcastle in recent weeks and his latest 5lb rise in the ratings might not prevent him going in again despite taking another rise in class.

3.45 – Betway Maiden Stakes (5f)
The standard is set by 65-rated duo My Joker and Accelerando but it’s not too steep and, between them, they’ve passed up on 15 chances to win a race already.
CRASH AND RUN has twice been placed in maiden/novice contest at this track (6f) and Chelmsford (5f) already for Richard Hughes. He was behind Shanko last time, with that rival just touched off this week at Kempton from a rating of 82 on handicap bow and, with more to come, Shane Kelly’s mount finds a good spot here.

4.20 – Play Coral Racing-Super-Series For Free Novice Stakes (1m)
The likes of Ludus and Combat Style showed something to work with on their respective debuts at Kempton but the standard-setter is Southwell winner Borgi. The Anjaal colt did well there, but now has a penalty to defy and a wide draw to overcome. Charlie Appleby’s newcomer KING OF TIME could easily be good enough to bag this. There are plenty winners in his family and the Kingman gelding cost Godolphin 470,000 gns.

4.55 – BetYourWay At Betway Handicap (1m2f)
Sea Of Charm (second choice), Forge Valley and Charlie Arthur all arrive in decent nick but a possible improver is BLUENOSE BELLE for Marco Botti on her handicap bow. The Noble Mission filly won a Newcastle maiden last spring over this trip and has only raced once since, finishing fourth at Chelmsford in a novice contest in October. The winner of that contest is rated 93 now and with Hollie Doyle an eye-catching booking, this 4YO could make a big mark on her first foray into a handicap from a potentially lenient mark.
