MansionBet are proud sponsors of Sunday’s card at Huntingdon, with a six-race offering at the Cambridgeshire venue as the National Hunt season continues to go through the gears.
The continuing rise of Dan Skelton ensures he’s replaced Nicky Henderson as leading trainer at Huntingdon over the last five seasons, but Skelton is still looking for his first winner at the track in this campaign. That wait may end today.
Our tipster has selections for all six races on the Huntingdon card (1.05pm-3.55pm) and you can watch it all, as well as every race from the UK and Ireland, via live streaming when logged into MansionBet.
1.05 – Mansionbet Bet 10 Get 20 Claiming Hurdle (2m)
Both Major Hall and Shanroe Tic Tec are former C&D winners, those success coming in 2015 & 2019 respectively, but on current form they are hard to fancy. Ben Pauling’s runner may have the best hope, if this sharp drop back in trip suits.
Humaniste and MARAJMAN are starting out for new connections after arriving from Ireland and it’s the ex-Willie Mullins inmate that looks best placed. He was third in a Punchestown handicap over 2m4f this month before departing Closutton and finds a winnable opportunity here.
Selection: Marajman @ SP
1.40 – Follow mansionbet On Twitter Juvenile Hurdle (2m)
TARSEEM made a solid start to his racing career when third over C&D at the start of the month. He never made the racetrack on the Flat and he was a bit worked up in the preliminaries that afternoon, while he hung left in the closing stages and likely would have got second had he held a straighter line, given he was only short-headed out of that spot.
There’s nothing as promising as easy winner Impulsive One in the line-up here and, with the benefit of that experience in his locker, he can get Dan Skelton on the scoresheet at this venue for the new term.
Selection: Tarseem @ SP
2.15 – MansionBet Faller Insurance Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (2m3½f)
This could be an informative Mares’ race with some promising talent on show. Trapista has winning hurdles form in France and the Golden Horn filly was bought by JP McManus ahead of arriving on these shores, while Houka D’oudairies was 2-2 in French bumpers last season and is now with in-form Gary Moore. Stratford bumper winner PUFFIN BAY was rather unlucky in an Exeter mares’ maiden this month on hurdles bow, collared as she was on the line after her rider lost his iron late on. She battled gamely in a sustained duel that afternoon and should give another good account now upped in trip despite this looking a better race on paper.
Selection: Puffin Bay @ SP
2.50 – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Novices’ Chase (2m4f)
Millers Bank was a four-time winner over hurdles and ended last season with a cracking run to be third in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle over this trip at odds of 80/1 behind Abacadabras and Buzz. He goes chasing with plenty optimism but CADZAND is a lively opponent for the Skelton brothers.
He won 3-5 starts over timber last season, his only blip in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury in February. He carried a double-penalty to success at Southwell in March over this sort of trip for the first time and it’s probable he’ll make a better chaser than he was a hurdler. He may give the forecast favourite plenty to worry about.
Selection: Cadzand @ SP
3.25 – Mansionbet Watch And Bet Macer Gifford Handicap Chase (2½f)
Crooks Peak should do better now back going right-handed as he compromised his hopes at Uttoxeter four weeks ago jumping off to the right. He’s a player for the Skeltons but ABOVE SUSPICION showed plenty promise in four starts over timber, including when a close third here over 2m in May behind a horse that came out and won again this month. He’s on a very workable mark starting out chasing for Tom George and Johnny Burke on that evidence.
Selection: Above Suspicion @ SP
3.55 – Download The Mansionbet App Handicap Hurdle (3m1f)
The longest race of the afternoon and one in which UNO MAS is hard to oppose. The Christian Williams inmate is unpenalised for what was a very easy win at Aintree in a conditional jockeys’ handicap a week ago and, if in the same mood now, he can help Ellis Collier continue the fantastic start to his riding career with another win in what appears a weaker contest than the one he bagged on Merseyside last Sunday.
Selection: Uno Mas @ SP
