IT’S a big night in the Championship in Scotland with the top two in action.
Live on BBC Scotland is Dundee’s trip to Morton. The Dark Blues have been in terrific form as they try to close in on top spot occupied by Queen’s Park. It’s now just one defeat in 14 for Gary Bowyer’s side but a Friday night trip to Cappielow won’t be straightforward.
Morton looked out of the promotion picture a few weeks ago, they were winless in six across all competitions but did Dundee a massive favour last week by taking all three points off Queen’s Park and are one of four teams separated by just two points vying for fourth (play-off place) in the table.
Dundee have been backed in to even money for the win and they’ll be popular at that price but five of the last six meetings between the sides have finished level. The last two have been goalless but there could be goals on the cards tonight. Both teams have scored in eight of Morton’s last 10 and there’s almost alway goals guranteed when Dundee play so BTTS at 5/6 appeals.
Dundee fans will be keeping an eye on what’s happening at Ochilview where Queen’s Park play in-form Raith Rovers. The Spiders are still clinging on to top spot but have played a game more than Dundee and face a tough test tonight.
Raith are unbeaten in 12, dating back to early December and they won away to Queen’s Park in January.
Owen Coyle’s team have overachieved already this and the loss of top scorer Simon Murray at the 11th hour of the transfer window was big blow to their promotion chances. The Spiders might feel the pinch tonight against a Raith side at 13/5.
