In Scotland, Ayr United make the three and a half hour trip to Cove Rangers in the Championship tonight. Cove have brought their promotion-winning manager Paul Hartley back to the club after a spell at Hartlepool and he’s been tasked with keeping them up.
Under Hartley, Cove were excellent at home and scored for fun so he’ll be keen to make Balmoral Stadium a fortress once again. An injury-time goal earned them a 2-2 draw with Raith Rovers last time out so he at least has something to build on.
Ayr’s tight squad have felt the pinch recently, winning just one of their last four. They’ve another trip to Cove coming up on Tuesday before a clash with league leaders Queen’s Park next Friday. That schedule could all take it’s toll but they’ll be desperate not to fall any further behind the Spiders this weekend.
Ayr United fan Stuart Wilson suggested on this week’s Gambla Podcast that the bookies have priced this one up the wrong way round and he’s expecting Ayr not have things their own way.
With that in mind let’s take a punt on cove to grab a couple of goals at 13/8.
The top two in the Premier League go head-to-head tonight but instead of three points at stake it’s a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
For Arsenal it could be a chance to deliver a psychological blow to their rivals in the title race, for Manchester City a chance to prove that they’re still capable of catching the Gunners.
The sides meet at the Emirates on Premier League duty in just over two weeks time in what could amount to a title decider so tonight offers up a tasty appetiser.
City have an incredible record in this fixture, winning 12 of the last 14 meetings, however both defeats were when they met in this competition.
As ever in the cup team news will be crucial. Erling Haaland seems to have found his scoring boots again, his hat-trick at the weekend took him to 31 for the season. He’s 4/5 to add to that tally tonight and that’s not a bad price if he starts. Riyad Mahrez is always a danger too, especially from set pieces, he’s on 10 for the season and is 11/4 to net this evening.
The match looks too difficult to call especially without team news so for interest it could be best to back goals but Over 2.5 is just 8/13.
In terms of player bets, Bet365 are offering odds on number of passes by selected players. One that stands out is Over 80.5 passes by Rodri. The Spaniard lays claim to the most passes in the Premier League this season with 1,758 in 19 matches, averaging 92.5 per match so that line looks more than beatable if he starts.
