Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the fixture in Ligue 1, and I’m expecting an entertaining affair.

Fourth-placed Rennes travel to the Stade du Moustoir to take on seventh-placed Lorient on Friday evening to open up Matchday 20 in Ligue 1.
After beginning the season in scintillating form by winning eight of their opening 10 Ligue 1 fixtures, Lorient have gone on to win just one of their next nine to see them slip down to seventh in the table, five points behind their upcoming opponents. Despite their drop-off in form, Régis Le Bris’s hosts have still found the back of the net in 17/19 of their Ligue 1 matches, scoring 31 goals. However, Les Merlus have recorded just three clean sheets this season and head into this fixture conceding multiple goals in six of their last eight league matches.
Rennes recorded their ninth consecutive win at home in Ligue 1 last time out, as they defeated reigning champions PSG 1-0. However, Bruno Génésio’s visitors have struggled on their travels this season, winning just of their nine road trips (W2-D4-L3). Nevertheless, Les Rouge et Noir have found the back of the net in each of their previous 18 Ligue 1 fixtures, scoring 36 goals. However, Les Rouge et Noir have kept just four clean sheets in Ligue 1 this season, with none of them coming on their travels.
Bet of the Day
Both teams to score has landed in all nine of Rennes’ Ligue 1 fixtures on the road this season, and given the same has banked in 15/19 (79%) of Lorient’s league matches this season, there’s a strong chance these two sides will get on the scoresheet in Brittany on Friday evening.
To nudge the price up slightly, I’m happy to throw in Rennes to be shown a card. Les Rennais have been cautioned in 17/19 (89%) of their Ligue 1 tussles this season, whilst Lorient has drawn a card from all 19 of their opponents in the league this season.
