The Championship kicks-off the weekend with two matches that could have an impact at the top of the table.
First up at 7.45pm is Peterborough‘s visit to high-flying Coventry City. The Sky Blues were 66/1 outsiders for the title before a ball was kicked but after six wins from their opening eight games they’re second in the table and could go top with a win.
Their recent success has been built on solid home form since their long-awaited return as permanent residents of The Coventry Building Society Arena. It’s four wins from four and only two goals conceded on their own patch. Visitors Peterborough are languishing in 17th and have yet to pick up a point on the road. It all points to a home win for the Sky Blues at 3/5.
The other game in the Championship is at The Hawthorns where West Brom need to start picking up wins to reignite their promotion-chasing campaign. Three consecutive draws have seen them slip to fourth in the table. QPR are the visitors and they’ve been good on the road, picking up seven of the 12 points available.
The Baggies are 4/6 to win but goals could be the better option at the same price. Over 2.5 goals has landed in six QPR’s eight matches and they’ve scored in each of their four away matches (10 in total). West Brom’s only blank has been against Derby but they’ve scored 14 in the other seven.
In Scotland Kilmarnock‘s visit to Arbroath is an intriguing one. Arbroath are unbeaten in five (W4 D1) and despite finishing 7th last season they only lost three at home. This term they’ve lost to league leaders Inverness (0-1) at Gayfield Park but they’ve recorded two fine looking wins over Hamilton (4-0) and Partick Thistle (3-1) there so it won’t be a trip Killie are relishing.
Dick Campbell’s side are 5/2 to win and leapfrog their opponents in to second, whereas the men from Ayrshire are 19/20 to grab the three points that would take them to the top of the table.
Goals have been hard to come by in Killie games, none of their six so far have seen both teams score and none have seen more than two goals scored so we could be in for a closely contested match. No first half goal appeals at 7/4 (Bet365).
We’re dipping in to Germany for Friday’s Super Single. Bayern Munich have been on fire lately, scoring a massive 31 goals in their last five matches. Admittedly 12 of those were against minnows Bremer SV but they hit three at the Nou Camp and were in seventh heaven against VfL Bochum last week.
Pray then, for Greuther Furth! The newly promoted side have had a tough start to life in the German top flight and sit bottom with one point from their opening five matches. A clean sheet for Bayern is surprisingly tempting at even money but the Bundesliga champions are guilty of being leaky at the back.
So, ridiculous as may sound lets go with Bayern to keep their goal scoring run going with Over 3.5 Goals at 1/1 with Betfair.
