Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Swiss top-tier and the league leaders should have too much firepower for their opponents.
Luzern vs Zürich
🇨🇭Super League
⏰ Wednesday 2nd March, 19:30
Zürich will look to take a further step closer to their first league title since 2009, as they travel to the Swissporarena to take on lowly Luzern. The visitors are currently 10 points clear of reigning champions Young Boys, whilst the hosts are currently positioned in the relegation-playoff spot, eight points adrift of automatic safety.
Luzern won a crucial six-pointer last time out, as they won away to bottom side Lausanne Sport 1-2 to move them six points clear of their opponents. That’s now seven points Luzern have collected from their last three matches, the same as what they had collected in their previous 12. Die Leuchten have only collected eight points at home this season (W2-D2-L7), losing all six against the top-five sides, conceding 18 goals. Luzern have managed to shutout their opponents just twice in their 23 league matches so far this season and have conceded 43 goals.
Zürich took a great stride in securing their first league title in 13 years, as they defeated third-placed Basel 4-2 on Sunday afternoon to effectively knock them out of the running. FCZ have not lost in the league since the end of September (W12-D3-L0) and come into this winning 10 of their last 11. Zürich are the leagues joint-highest scorers, finding the back of the net 55 times. André Breitenreier’s side have failed to find the back of the net in just one of their 23 league matches this season, scoring on multiple occasions in 16 of them.
Bet of the Day
Following Young Boys 1-0 defeat away to Servette on Tuesday evening, Zürich can go 13 points clear at the top of the Swiss Super League and close-in on their first league title since 2009. Zürich have won 10 of their last 11 in the league and they’ll be confident of securing all three points against a Luzern side that tend to struggle against the leagues better sides, with them losing all six of their matches at home to the current top-five, conceding on 18 occasions. The hosts have recorded just two clean sheets this season and with Andrè Breitenreiter’s visitors scoring in all bar one of their league tussles, it’s highly unlikely they’ll not score here. Zürich have scored on multiple occasions in 16/23 of their league matches and I like the look of them scoring another brace this evening, something they’ve already achieved in both meetings with Luzern this season.
- Zürich to Score 2+
- Pays 20/21 (SBK)
