Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Irish top flight, and I’m backing the visitors to grab a reasonably comfortable victory.

Shamrock will look to return to the top of the Irish Premier Division tomorrow evening as they travel to Turners Cross to take on last season’s First Division champions, Cork City.
Cork City finally put a halt to their six-match losing run last time out, as they defeated 7th-placed Sligo Rovers 1-0. Liam Buckley’s hosts have now collected 10 points from a possible 24 (W3-D1-L4), with that record changing to W1-D0-L4 when welcoming sides currently positioned in 6th and above. City boasts the division’s second-worst defensive record, shipping 33 goals across their opening 16 matches back in the Irish top flight.
Shamrock saw their 13-match unbeaten run in the Premier Division surprisingly come to an end last time out, as they were beaten 1-2 at home to 8th-placed Drogheda United. However, Stephen Bradley’s visitors remain unbeaten on the road, as after drawing each of their opening three road trips, have gone on to win each of their next five. The Hoops are the leading scorers in the division, netting 35 goals, with 13 of those coming across their last five on their travels.

The reigning champions have won on each of their previous five road trips, whilst the hosts have lost four of their five matches at home to the top six.
To bolster the odds, I’m more than happy to throw in the visitors to score at least twice. Rovers have made the net bulge in 12/17 (71%) of their league fixtures – including in each of their previous five away from home – whilst Cork have shipped multiple goals in 11 of their opening 17 Premier Division encounters.
