Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the World Cup Qualifiers. I’ve picked a couple of selections from Europe in which I like the look of to give us a nice odds against double.

Romania travel to Vaduz to take on Lichtenstein at the Rheinpark Stadion in a must win game. The Romanians come into this fixture in 3rd and a point behind North Macedonia. The hosts as expected are bottom of the group and already eliminated.
Lichtenstein once again suffered a humiliating defeat last time out as they were defeated 9-0 by Germany in Wolfsburg on Thursday evening. Lichtenstein have just a solitary point to their name in Group J, losing eight of their nine group matches. Lichtenstein have scored just two goals in the campaign, while conceding 32. Seven of their eight defeats have come by two or more goals, including the reverse fixture in Bucharest.
Despite firing 23 shots at goal, Romania couldn’t find a way past Iceland and that 0-0 draw saw them slip down to 3rd in Group J following North Macedonia’s demolition of Armenia. A playoff spot is now out of Romania’s hands as they must now defeat Lichtenstein and hope North Macedonia fail to win at home to Iceland. That was Romania’s fifth clean sheet in qualifying and they should keep yet another one against goal-shy Lichtenstein, like they did in the reverse fixture in which they won 2-0.

North Macedonia can secure 2nd place and a playoff spot by defeating Iceland at the Toše Proeski Arena in Skopje. North Macedonia currently sit in 2nd spot and have a one point advantage over Romania. Iceland are in 5th position and are already eliminated.
North Macedonia secured an emphatic 0-5 over group rivals Armenia in Yerevan to end the Armenians hopes of qualifying. They also leapfrogged the Romanians into second following their stalemate with Iceland. North Macedonia’s 0-4 defeat in their last home fixture in the group with group winners Germany is their only defeat in their last six group games. What more, North Macedonia have their two games either side of that Germany defeat, scoring nine goals without reply.
Iceland just about managed to hang on to a draw in Bucharest on Thursday evening but that ended their slim hopes off qualification. Iceland have only collected nine points in Group J so far, with their two wins both coming against lowly Lichtenstein. Scoring goals has been a problem for Iceland in qualifying, failing to score in five of their seven group games against sides other than Lichtenstein. That was only Iceland’s second clean sheet of the campaign against Romania, with the Nordic nation conceding 15 goals.
Bet of the Day
Romania slipped up at home to Iceland on Thursday night which now means qualification is no longer in their hands. They should, however, put pressure on North Macedonia by comfortably defeating the minnows of Lichtenstein who are just off the back of a 9-0 humiliation off Germany. I’m backing Romania to win by two clear goals, just like they did in the reverse fixture in Bucharest. North Macedonia have their destiny in their own hands and know if they match Romania’s result, they’ll finish 2nd and secure a playoff spot. With Romania away too group whipping boys Lichtenstein, they’ll know they most likely need to win in Skopje and I’m expecting them to do just that. North Macedonia will be full of confidence after their 0-5 victory in Armenia and Thursday and they should edge past an Iceland side who struggle to score goals and who have nothing to play for.
