Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the German Bundesliga and there’s a match that looks as if it has potential for a flurry of goals.
Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia M’Gladbach
🇩🇪 Bundesliga
⏰ Sunday 20th February, 16:30
Borussia Dortmund will look to keep pace with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga, as they host Borussia M’Gladbach at Signal Iduna Park. The hosts come into the weekend just six points behind the champions, whilst the visitors are just four points clear of the relegation playoff spot.
Following Bayern’s shock defeat away at Bochum last Saturday, Dortmund cut the gap to six points the day later, as they won 0-3 away to Union Berlin. Marco Rose’s side have now won four of their last five in the Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals. Dortmund have found the back in all bar one of their league fixtures this season and are the leagues third-highest scorers, scoring on 57 occasions. Dortmund have only managed two clean sheets this term, with the Black & Yellows conceding 36 goals, the seventh worst in the division.
Gladbach secured a vital victory last time out, as they defeated fellow relegation-rivals Augsburg 3-2 to move them four points clear of their opponents, who sit in 16th. Gladbach have only failed to score four times in the Bundesliga this season, with Adi Hütter’s side finding the back of the net in 12 of their last 13, including each of their last eight. No side has kept fewer clean sheets in the Bundesliga than Gladbach, with them keeping just two and none on their travels. Only the bottom-two sides and Hertha Berlin have conceded more goals than Gladbach, with the Foals conceding 40 goals in their 22 matches.
Bet of the Day
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to bounce back from their shock defeat at home to Scottish champions Rangers in the Europa League, as they host Gladbach. Both sides rarely fail to find the net, with them scoring in 39 of their 44 combined matches and with both sides managing just five clean sheets between them, it would be a major surprise if both sides don’t score. Given both sides records at both ends of the pitch and both coaches opt for an attacking style of play, I’m happy to have a play on over 3.5 goals, a bet that’s landed in 7/11 of Dortmund’s matches at Signal Iduna Park.
- Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia M’Gladbach – Over 3.5 Goals
- Pays 6/5 (SBK)
