Tottenham will look to move back up into the top-four, as they welcome Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first Premier League fixture of 2023.
Tottenham returned from the World Cup break by drawing 2-2 away at fellow London club Brentford, in a match they had to come from two goals down to rescue a point. Antonio Conte’s side defeated Leeds United 4-3 in their last home fixture, meaning they have won six of their opening eight league fixtures in front of their supporters. Only the top two have outscored Spurs in the Premier League this season, with the North London club having found the back of the net 33 times so far, with 21 of those coming in their eight league matches as hosts.
After winning each of their previous two league matches before the World Cup break, Aston Villa returned to Premier League action with a 1-3 defeat at home to Liverpool on Boxing Day. Unai Emery’s men won at Brighton in their last away trip, but that’s the only time they’ve emerged victorious on their travels this campaign, losing five of their opening seven. Villa have recorded just a solitary clean sheet away from home this season, conceding on 16 occasions.

Spurs have scored an eye-catching 21 goals across their opening eight home Premier League fixtures this season – netting on multiple occasions in six of those – and I fancy them to find the back of the net at least twice against a Villa defence that’s shipped 16 goals across their opening eight away league matches.
Tottenham’s matches at home in the Premier League average a whopping 4.00 goals per match and given there have been 22 goals scored across Aston Villa’s last six league matches, I’m happy to add in over 2.5 goals alongside Antonio Conte’s hosts scoring at least twice.
