Benfica will look to maintain their 100% start to their Primeira Liga campaign, as they travel to the Estádio Municipal 22 de Junho to take on a struggling Famalicão side.
After collecting just a solitary point from their opening three league fixtures, Famalicão got their first win of the season at the fourth time of asking, as they defeated 15th-placed Santa Clara 1-0. However, Rui Pedro Silva’s side failed to build on that win last time out, as they were this time defeated 1-0 away to in-form Portimonense to leave them currently occupying the relegation play-off spot. Since the start of last last season, The Vila Nova have been shown multiple cards in 33/39 of their Primeira Liga matches, as well drawing at least one card from all bar one of their opponents in that time.
João Mário’s penalty in the 11th-minute of stoppage-time gave Benfica all three points at home to Vizela last time out, making it five out of five to begin their Primeira Liga campaign. Roger Schmidt’s side have scored 13 goals in those five league victories, scoring on multiple occasions in four of those. Since the start of last season, The Eagles have been shown a card in all bar one of their 39 league fixtures, with them already being carded 18 times this season. The Eagles also defeated Maccabi Haifa 2-0 in their Champions League group-stage opener last Tuesday and will be fully confident of defeating a Famalicão who’ve won just one of their opening five league fixtures this season, losing three of them.
Roger Schmidt’s visitors have scored on multiple occasions in 9/10 of their competitive fixtures this season and they should bag another brace against a struggling Famalicão side who have already lost 0-3 at home to second-placed Braga this season. To complete the bet builder, I’m adding in Rui Pedro Silva’s hosts to be shown at least two cards and the visitors to also collect at least one, something that’s landed in all five of Benfica’s Primeira Liga fixtures this season and in each of Famalicão’s last four.
