Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Portuguese Primeira Liga and I’m backing goals at both ends once more in a match involving these Portuguese giants.
Boavista vs Benfica
🇵🇹 Primeira Liga
⏰ Friday 18th February, 20:15
Benfica will look to go within one point of rivals Sporting CP in second, as they travel to the Estádio do Pessa to take on Boavista. The visitors come into this in third, whilst the hosts are in 12th, just two points above the relegation playoff spot.
For the second match in a row, Boavista came from behind to earn a draw. Petit’s side have now drawn six of their last seven matches in the league, losing just one of their last eight. Boavista have found the back of the net in 19 of their 22 matches in the Primeira Liga this season, only failing to score away to champions Sporting CP in their last 13. Os Axadrezados have kept just four clean sheets in the league, with all four of those coming against bottom-half sides.
Benfica came from behind to win against Santa Clara at the Estádio da Luz last time, making it back-to-back wins in the league. The Eagles have been stronger on the road than at home in the Primeira Liga this season, with them W9-D1-L1 on their travels, with their only loss coming against league leaders Porto. Nélson Veríssimo’s side have failed to score just once this season and are the league’s top-scorers, netting on 58 occasions. Clean sheets remain an issue for the Lisbon club, with them managing just seven in the Primeira Liga, with just two of them coming in their last 10.
Bet of the Day
I’ve already highlighted Benfica’s defensive struggles in recent weeks and I reckon they may struggle at the back once again this evening. Boavista come into losing just one of their last eight in the Primeira Liga, as well as losing just one of their 11 matches at the Estádio do Bessa this season. Boavista have netted in 19/22 in the league and I reckon they’ll get on the scoresheet once again here against a Benfica side that’s conceded in eight of their last 10 in the Primeira Liga. The visitors are the league’s top-scorers and have scored in 21/22 of their matches this season and it would be a shock if they don’t score against a Boavista side with just four clean sheets this term, therefore I’m backing both sides to score in Porto this evening.
