I’ve got five rides for tomorrow’s meet at Haydock, with Thomas Darby in the 2:05 arguably the strongest ride of the day. I’m looking forward to all of them and should be in with a chance of a good result in every race, but as always, we’ll have to wait and see how they perform on the day.
My first race is the second of the day, where I’ll be riding Tanganyika in the 1:30. It’ll be his first run in England, but he has form on heavy ground and ticks a lot of boxes for tomorrow’s race. Venetia Williams’s horses are flying at the moment, and we enjoyed lots and lots of success together a few years back so it’s great to ride for her again.
Next up I’m riding Thomas Darby in the 2:05 and this is likely to be my best chance of the day. He’s a very good horse who has done well this year, but there are a lot of highly rated horses in the race and with the ground expected to be atrocious, anything can happen. Hopefully he can give a good account of himself, and we can secure a good result.
High Hopes for Sam
At 2:40 I’m riding Sam Brown and it’s another race I have high hopes for. He ran really well last time out, and I was delighted with the run up against a really good horse in conditions similar to those we’re expecting tomorrow. I know the ground won’t be a problem for him no matter how heavy it gets, and he’s a very consistent, very likeable horse who is in very good form so it’s one I’m very much looking forward to.
My next ride will be Tamar Bridge in the 3:15, who was doing really well up until his last race at the start of the year. I haven’t ridden him since I won a bumper on him last year so I’m looking forward to a competitive race on a progressive horse.
Finally, I finish the day in the 3:50 riding Green Book. He was very impressive last time out where he ran a very competitive race at Sandown that he saw out well and he’s another horse that will like the heavy ground. It will be another competitive race, so we’ll wait and see but we’re certainly confident of a decent result.
