Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6: Wildcard on the Horizon

21/09/2021 admin

Those that kept faith with Ivan Toney were rewarded handsomely with 12 points from the Brentford man, but it was Chelsea’s defence that shone as Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso all scored double figures.

Ismaila Sarr and Josh King of Watford both notched over ten points, while Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea rolled back the years to get the same as he saved Mark Noble’s penalty against West Ham.

Players who banked on Wolves winning were let down, while Romelu Lukaku failed to bag.

Last week our team scored 67 points, mainly thanks to Salah’s performance as skipper. The Egyptian netted us 24 points, while Ben White’s seven and Toney’s 12 were much-needed boosts.

Raphinha’s eight points helped us on our way, but it was very disappointing to see Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ferran Torres fail to make an appearance.

This week it looks like further patience is needed, but the fixtures seem to switch in Gameweek 7 – meaning a wildcard looks sensible.

Michail Antonio should come back into our team to replace Ings, while Salah looks another wise choice for captain.

Wolves duo Nelson Semedo and Adama Traore appeal against Southampton, while dropping Toney to the bench appears the right move with Liverpool next up.

Goalkeeper – Robert Sanchez

The Brighton stopper only got one point last week, but he’s going to face Crystal Palace this time around. The Eagles have improved, meaning Sanchez may be busy, but the jury is still out on Patrick Vieira’s men, and there’s no reason why Sanchez can’t pick up a clean sheet.

Defence – Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luke Shaw, Ben White, Nelson Semedo

TAA was ill last weekend, but so far, there are no suggestions he will not feature against newly-promoted Brentford. Even though Manchester United tackle Aston Villa, we still fancy Luke Shaw to do the business as he tries to pick out Cristiano Ronaldo with one of his teasing crosses.

Ben White’s clean sheet should have given him a lift last week, and he will do battle against a Tottenham side who have not scored for two successive league games.

We are giving Semedo a game or two to impress, but Wolves did change to a back four against Brentford, and that does not bring the best out of Semedo’s attacking flair.

Midfielders – Bruno Fernandes, Mohamed Salah, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Adama Traore

Fernandes only grabbed two points last week, but the Portugal international created three chances and was unlucky not to get at least one assist.

This could be his last game in our team for a while, with Ronaldo set to take penalties going forward, but we will give him one more week seeing as he has always looked after us.

Salah needs no introduction after his goal and assist at the weekend, and he often toys with newly-promoted sides.

Torres stays in our team, even though City are about to play Chelsea. It might sound mad, but if he was dropped last weekend, there’s every chance he leads the line against the Blues.

Raphinha should overcome a knock to take on West Ham, while Traore seems very close to scoring at the moment. He hit the crossbar and created a big chance for Raul Jimenez last time out and looks good value at £6.0m.

Striker – Michail Antonio

Antonio was suspended last week, but he returns to face a Leeds United side who are struggling at the back. The Whites have four defenders potentially missing this weekend, and Antonio could have a field day against their fragile backline, while West Ham look good value to win at 6/4 to win the match.
