Premier League Darts Tips & Preview for Week 5 (Brighton)
Night 5 Premier League Darts action comes from Brighton this Thursday 10th March. Read on for our expert betting preview and Premier League Darts tips for Week 5.
So far, we have had four individual winners. Those not to have won a nightly final are: James Wade, Joe Cullen, Gary Anderson and Michael Smith. Wade and Cullen have been beaten finalists, but Anderson and Smith have a desperate record winning just one of the five matches they have played.
Gary Anderson vs Michael Smith (7.15pm)
This struggling duo meet in Thursday night’s first game where it is Smith the bookmakers like. However, not only do the pair arrive in East Sussex with four defeats apiece, their overall stats are near identical.
Anderson has averaged 95.7, Smith 96.5. The Scott is 50% on checkouts, his rival’s percentage is 45%. Even their 180 figures are close. With 12, Anderson has registered one more than his rival.
On these figures Anderson should not be a big underdog – he can be backed at 6/4 at bet365*– logically he is the choice for the match win. Of course, Smith did make the final of last weekend’s UK Open at Butlin’s Minehead. But, as he habitually does in a televised event, he squandered a winning chance with the winning line in clear sight.
In short, the UK Open form may not mean that much in a Premier League Darts format and, in allowing the head not to be ruled by the heart, the most sensible bet has to be Anderson on the 1.5-plus leg handicap at 5/6 with bet365*.
MVG Ticks All the Boxes – He Can Do a Job on Wade!(8.15pm)
Michael van Gerwen was sublime last week. He blew away his rivals with ease and impressed in all scoring areas. If he arrives in Brighton in anything like the same form, he will bury James Wade in their match.
Van Gerwen is the only player with an overall three-dart average in excess of 100 at present. He has also registered more 180s than anyone – that is despite playing fewer legs than Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price – and possess the finest checkout percentage of 53%.
Factoring all that together, Betfair’s quote of 9/4 about Michael van Gerwen registering the most match 180s, the highest checkout and win the game has to be well worth a small darts bet.
After a thrilling weekend at the UK Open, the darting drama continues on Thursday as we return to the @BrightonCentre for the @CazooUK Premier League.

Joe Cullen Can Win the 180 Race Against Price (8.45pm)
Joe Cullen is a big underdog against Gerwyn Price. Sitting sixth in the table with two wins and four losses, his odds makes sense. Equally, he is a deserved favourite in the 180 market. So far, the 2022 Masters winner has registered 24 180s. Price has recorded just 19.
Maybe that is not a big difference, but do not forget Price has played one more match (and/or nine more legs) than his rival in the 2022 Premier League Darts. Understanding this, you have to like Joe Cullen in ‘most 180s’ market at Betfred’s even-money.
Summary – Premier League Darts Bets (Week 5 – Brighton)
- Gary Anderson (+1.5 legs) to beat Michael Smith at 5/6 bet365*
- Michael van Gerwen win / Most 180’s & High Checkout v James Wade at 9/4 with Betfair
- Joe Cullen Most 180’s versus Gerwyn Price at Evens with Betfred
