CHELSEA face a impossible task as they try to keep their Champions League hopes alive tonight.
Frank Lampard’s men were outclassed 3-0 by Bayern Munich back in March and travel to Germany with little or no hope.
Bayern haven’t played competitively since beating Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 in the German Cup Final on July 4 so could be ring rusty.
But players will have to be eroded completely to give Chelsea any chance of overturning such a huge deficit.
Being the man he is and having suffered disappointment against Arsenal in the FA Cup Final I imagine Lampard will task his men of giving it a good go.
But it will take something of a miracle to turn this one around and Chelsea are as big as 50-1 with bet365 and Betfred to qualify.
Goals could be on the agenda if the Blues attack their illustrious hosts.
Bayern have netted at least three times in six of their seven outings in the Champions League this season and over 3.5 match goals has a chance at 11-10 with Unibet while Bayern and over 2.5 match goals is 3-4 at McBookie.
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals have more chance but of course the odds aren’t as attractive.
Bayern have a serious chance of going all the way – they are second favourites on the outrights at 18-5 – and will be looking at Robert Lewandowski to add to his incredible 55-goal tally.
The Pole’s enjoyed an unbelievable season, scoring in all but one of his last 13 outings, and is 47-20 at 888sport to score first and just 1-2 to net at any time.
If Lewandowski is off the boil Bayern have strong back-up in the shape Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller and even Phillipe Coutinho. Gnabry is worth a look at 27-20 with Unibet to net.
I tipped Christian Pulisic to score for Chelsea at Wembley last week and while he did the American later limped off injured and will be a loss for Lampard today.
The Blues may turn to the vast experience of Olivier Giroud and he is 16-5 at Unibet to score at any time.
Tonight’s other tie sees Barcelona entertain Napoli and the home men hold the advantage after a 1-1 draw in Italy.
Napoli will, however, have the edge in match fitness having only finished their season at the weekend while Barca have been sidelined for almost a month.
It’s been a mixed campaign for Napoli who finished a lowly seventh in Serie A but Rino Gattuso’s men lifted the Italian Cup after lockdown with victories against Juventus and Inter.
Napoli frustrated both rivals and will be out to do the same against a Barca side who are 2-5 at BetVictor to qualify.
Lionel Messi and Co will be hoping to make up for losing La Liga to Real Madrid and I reckon they’ll have too much quality for their opponents.
Barca are 8-13 generally to win in 90 minutes and I’m on Messi to score first at 3-1 with Unibet.
