I was riding in the Racing League last night at Lingfield and our Team Thoroughbid are still top of the table thanks to a win from Sean Levey!
I’m up to Thirsk this afternoon, before a local visit to Newmarket tomorrow and a trip down to Goodwood on Sunday afternoon!
Friday – Thirsk
1:30 – VICTORIA GROVE
VICTORIA GROVE 5/2 has run two really good races to date. She was 4th when I rode her on debut and then stepped up to a Group 3 on her second start, where she ran with credit having missed the break. This looks like the ideal opportunity to get off the mark and Henry is a shrewd trainer, so I’d trust his placement.
3:50 – SHIELDED
SHIELDED 9/1 has been really well supported in the market on each of his three starts but was a tad disappointing on his last start. He has been gelded and that could really make the difference. He is Simon and Ed Crisford’s only runner at Thirsk today which I think is notable. He should have a solid each way chance.
Saturday – Newmarket
2:45 – CHIEFOFCHIEFS
CHIEFOFCHIEFS 8/1 is a horse I’ve never ridden before but one I’ve always wanted to ride! Charlie absolutely loves the horse, and he is very capable on his day. He always needs things to go for him. He’s really well and if the pace is right tomorrow and things drop right, he’d have a chance for sure.
3:55 – INDIGO TIMES
INDIGO TIMES SP didn’t enjoy the soft ground on his last start so you can put a line through that run. We should have nice summer ground at Newmarket. There are some seasoned handicappers in the field, so it looks a tough race to win but I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on at the bottom of the handicap here.
Sunday – Goodwood
4:00 – ONASSIS
My old favourite ONASSIS returns to Goodwood where she ran such a good race at the Glorious meeting. She’d ideally like a bit more rain to fall but it won’t be quick ground there. The race has cut up somewhat thankfully as a big field over seven furlongs at Goodwood can lead to a messy race. It’s a hot renewal but Onassis is capable.
