I hope everyone has survived the winter and yet another lockdown!
I have been keeping very busy riding out and have had a handful of winners to start the year. It’s always an exciting time of year when the turf season gets underway with plenty of dreams for horses very much alive ahead of the Classics and big meetings like Royal Ascot.
I am absolutely thrilled with the news that Onassis is back in training for another season! She was an absolute pleasure to ride last year and gave me some special days, most memorably at Royal Ascot last June. She should be really exciting over a variety of distances this year and I can’t wait to see her out on the track again! I’ve been to see her at Charlie Fellowes and she looks great.
I am really happy to be continuing my association with MansionBet for the coming season and, like last year, I will have a weekly blog that you can read every Friday as I update you on my rides and any other news!
I have two rides this Easter Weekend.
Friday – Chelmsford – 4:45pm – VIA SERENDIPITY
I have to say, huge credit to Chelmsford for putting on such a valuable card. This particular race is worth nearly £40,000 to the winner which is fantastic. The bad news is that, as a result, the race looks very competitive! VIA SERENDIPITY has had this race as his plan set by his trainer Charlie Fellowes all winter. He ran a bit flat on his last start at the start of February but Charlie has freshened him up since and I expect him to be competitive. We have got a great draw in 3 which is very important at Chelmsford. Fingers crossed we can make the frame.
Saturday – Wolverhampton – 8:00pm – CAREY STREET
CAREY STREET has been very consistent over the winter, particularly here at Wolverhampton. Hollie (Doyle) has done most of the riding on him. I was actually meant to ride him but due to some complications with a COVID test, I missed the ride but I’m happy to be back on him. Like with Via Serendipity, we’ve been fortunate with the draw (1) so hopefully he can get his head in front again after hitting the crossbar the last couple of runs.
