Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me stay in the English Premier League and I’m backing two sides at home to be too strong for their struggling opponents to form a solid looking double.
Newcastle United vs AFC Bournemouth
🏴 Premier League
⏰ Saturday 17th September, 15:00
Two sides separated only by goal difference in the Premier League table meet at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, as 11th-placed Newcastle play host to 13th-placed Bournemouth.
Newcastle were left frustrated last time out, as they could only draw 0-0 at home to Crystal Palace – in a match they had a legitimate goal controversially ruled out by VAR late on. The Magpies have now drawn four of their last five Premier League fixtures, losing the other 2-1 in stoppage-time away to Liverpool. Eddie Howe’s side have lost just one of their last 13 league encounters at St James’ Park (0-1 against Liverpool), with them winning eight of their last 11.
Bournemouth managed to collect their second victory of the season last time out, as they came from two-goals down to defeat fellow newly-promoted side Nottingham Forest 2-3. That result now means that interim boss Gary O’Neil has taken four points from his opening two games in charge – drawing 0-0 at home to Wolves in his opener. The Cherries have failed to score in 4/6 of their league outings this season and no side has conceded more than the 18 they have let in.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City
🏴 Premier League
⏰ Saturday 17th September, 17:30
Tottenham will look to go top of the Premier League table, as they play host to bottom-side Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the evening kick-off on Saturday.
Prior to their 2-0 Champions League defeat in Lisbon in midweek, Spurs defeated Fulham 2-1 to maintain their unbeaten start to their league campaign. Antonio Conte’s side have won nine of their last 10 Premier League fixtures at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including each of their opening three this season. The Lilywhites have scored at least twice in 13 of their last 17 league matches in front of their own supporters, scoring three or more in eight of those.
Leicester’s desperate start to the season continued last time out, as they were thumped 5-2 away at Brighton. After drawing their league opener 2-2 with Brentford, Brendan Rodgers’ side have gone on to lose each of their next five matches to leave them rooted to the foot of the Premier League table. Only Bournemouth (18) and Nottingham Forest (17) have conceded more than Leicester (16), with The Foxes conceding on multiple occasions in 5/6 of their league outings, including all three on the road.
Bet of the Day
Newcastle have been somewhat the draw-specialists this season but they have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways on Saturday at home to Bournemouth. The Geordies have won eight of their last 11 Premier League matches at St James’ Park and they should be too strong for a Bournemouth side that posses the leagues leakiest defence.
Tottenham know they can go top of the Premier League with all three points on Saturday evening and they’ll see Leicester as the perfect opponents. Antonio Conte’s side have won nine of their last 10 Premier League tussles as hosts, scoring at least twice in seven of those and I’m backing them to make the net bulge at least twice against a Leicester defence that’s already conceded 16 goals in their opening six Premier League outings.
- Newcastle United to Win
- Tottenham Hotspur to Score 2+
- Double Pays 23/20 (2.17) (William Hill)
