A reduced Premier League card has left us with just three top-flight matches on Saturday…
Newcastle have been on the shortlist plenty of times this season but they’ve a habit of letting us down. Too many draws so far sees them sitting in mid-table and they really need to start converting those stalemates in to wins if they’re to make any kind of mark this season.
Visitors Bournemouth are on the same points tally as the Magpies but of course, that 9-0 mauling at Anfield has put a serious dent in their goal difference. You’d expect Newcastle to pick up the three points but they’re way too short at 4/9 so probably best avoided.
As expected, Erling Haaland stole the headlines with an acrobatic winner against former club Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday and it’s hard not to back him in the form that he’s in. That Champions League goal made it 13 in 9 since arriving at Manchester City and today he has Wolves in his sights.
The Norwegian phenomenon scores at a rate of one goal every 112 minutes so if you’re getting 8/11 (Bet365) on Haaland to score in every game you can’t go far wrong.
The day’s other match sees Spurs welcome Leicester and it’s difficult to see past a home win at 1/2. Much has been made of Son’s lack of goals this season but Harry Kane is the man to be on today. He just loves playing the Foxes, against whom he’s scored 19 career goals (17 in the Premier League) and is just three off Alan Shearer’s record of 20 against Leeds.
In Scotland, the Over 2.5 Goals at Easter Road looks attractive at 6/5. There’s not a great history of goals in recent fixtures but both sides certainly have an attacking threat. Aberdeen opened up at 12/5 but have been backed in to 9/4 and still offer some value at that price.
At Ibrox Rangers should bounce back after a run of three heavy defeats. Bottom-side Dundee United are the visitors and they could be on the end of another heavy defeat as the Gers take out their frustrations of recent weeks. The corner market could prove profitable, especially if Rangers dominate possession. They average 5.67 first-half corners in home league games this season and are 7/5 to take five or more in the first 45 today.
In the Championship, Dundee have scored 2 or more in each of their home games so far and are even money to do so once more against Inverness at Dens Park this afternoon.
Airdrie took a hammering last time out when FC Edinburgh thumped them 6-0 so we should expect to see a reaction from them today at home to Clyde who have lost their last three. The Diamonds have only lost one of their last 10 fixtures against the Bully Wee so look good acca material at 1/2.
