Friday evening jumps racing comes from Worcester and MansionBet are thrilled to be title sponsors at the meeting.
There are some promising novices’ hurdles on the card after the first three races over fences.
Worcester’s seven-race card runs from 5.40pm to 8.40pm and you can watch every race via live streaming when logged into MansionBet. Our tipster provides selections for all the Friday evening action.
5.40 – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase (2m½f)
Go As You Please looks the most obvious winner. Paul Webber’s charge twice won over fences last season and was just denied at Huntingdon in March when we saw him last. He’s on a career-high mark but has his chance again.
Third Estate is one to monitor starting out for a new trainer but maybe the switch to chasing will pay off for SHADY CHARACTER.
He was a hurdles winner in the spring and isn’t badly treated in first-time blinkers now turning his attention to this sphere under rules.
Selection: Shady Character @ 12/1
6.10 – West Midlands Area Open Hunters’ Chase (2m7f)
Front-running Marcle Ridge was well-backed to win at Cheltenham three weeks ago over shorter and is a key player, while Jatiluwih (pulled up behind Marcle Ridge in a point last time) and certainly isn’t discounted.
WISHING AND HOPING found the waters too deep in the Foxhunters at Cheltenham in March, but his earlier second to Bob And Co at Haydock reads nicely and he might have a major say in this easier assignment.
Selection: Wishing And Hoping @ 7/2
6.40 – Bet 10 Get 20 With MansionBet Handicap Chase (2m4f)
Southwell second Do Wanna Know has a fine claims if coming on for that effort at the start of the month, but the preference is for HAZZAAR.
Tom Lacey’s charge put two narrow defeats over fences behind him when edging out Statuario at Warwick (2m, good to soft) this month, the pair having stretched some 20-lengths clear. That form has been held up since and a 4lb rise looks more than manageable for this lightly-raced chaser.
Selection: Hazzaar @ 11/4
7.10 – Download The MansionBet App ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle (2m4f)
This looks a straight fight between Fire Away, winner of three from four over fences since February and at home on this ground/trip now reverting to hurdles, and NO ORDINARY JOE.
Nicky Henderson’s runner had plenty more in hand than the winning margin suggested at Southwell recently and looks up to conceding 7lb to his older market rival.
Selection: No Ordinary Joe @ 4/11
7.40 – Follow MansionBet Novices’ Hurdle (2m7f)
Monty Guiry and Taste The Fear are major players on their best form – the latter winning a maiden hurdle at Warwick 18 days ago, but MEEP MEEP MAG could be a mare worth giving a chance to for David Pipe on second hurdles start.
She was back from almost 500 days off here 15 days ago and showed signs of needing the run late on. This increased trip looks favourable for this 3m point-to-point winner with Tom Scudamore taking over in the saddle now.
Selection: Meep Meep Mag @ 10/3
8.10 – MansionBet Proud To Support British Racing Handicap Hurdle (2m7f)
AN TAILLIUR had any amount in hand when completing a hat-trick at Southwell (2m4½f, good) on Wednesday.
He’s well-in again turned out quickly and is hard to oppose in current mood as he once more goes up in trip. Iron Port routed his rivals at Uttoxeter this month (including a couple of these) and is the obvious danger despite a 10lb rise.
Selection: An Tailliur @ 1/1
8.40 – MansionBet Faller Insurance Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (2m4f)
Krujers Girl was an easy winner over fences at Uttoxeter last weekend and is respected racing from the same mark over hurdles now.
MISS HARRIET is 0-12 over hurdles, but has twice knocked on the door of late at Chepstow and Ludlow. She races from an unchanged mark and will get her turn soon if she holds that form.
Selection: Miss Harriett @ 11/2
