It’s another busy Saturday of Premier League action, with six matches across the day and key games at both the top and bottom of the table.
After a poor start to the season, Wolves have now moved into the top half of the table following three consecutive Premier League wins.
On Saturday, Bruno Lage’s men make the journey to West Yorkshire to face a Leeds United team that have just one league win to their name this term.
Wanderers Impress on the Road
It’s fair to say Wolves’ best performances have been away from Molineux this season. Wanderers have collected nine points from a possible 12 on the road, compared with three points from 12 on home soil.
Three of their last four victories have been away from home – with success at Watford, Southampton and Aston Villa – and they will fancy their chances of collecting another win, with Lage’s men 7/4 to claim the points in the 3pm kick off at Elland Road.
Wolves also have a good record against their opponents, having won all of their last five meetings and conceding just one goal to Leeds in that run. With Leeds’ injury problems, they might struggle again to find the net.
There comeback victory at Villa Park must have boosted confidence further, especially as they played 88 minutes without their man striker – Raul Jimenez.
The Mexican was left on the bench due to his international commitments earlier in the week but, after last season’s long lay-off, he looks now to be getting back to his best and looks like a good price of 19/10 to score at anytime on Saturday afternoon.
Ranieri Faces Double Merseyside Setback
Having lost at home to Liverpool in his opening game as Watford manager last weekend, Claudio Ranieri now takes his team to the north west to face another Merseyside outfit in Everton (3pm).
The Hornets were totally outplayed in last Saturday’s 0-5 defeat and it makes you wonder whether they have the belief to get anything from Goodison Park.
History is certainly against them as Everton have never lost at home to Watford in any competition – 15 matches in total – which includes a 2-0 success in their last meeting in the League Cup in 2019.
Richarlison, who scored in that EFL Cup win, is expected to feature after a five-match absence and can be backed at 4/1 to score first on Saturday.
One positive factor for the visitors is the fact that Everton have kept just one clean sheet in their four Premier League games this term and that was against Norwich. Everton to win and BTTS can be backed at 12/5.
Seagulls can Make Champions City Work
Saturday’s late Premier League game (5:30) sees fourth face third as Brighton and Manchester City go head-to-head at the Amex Stadium.
A midweek trip to Belgium in the Champions League is likely to see Pep Guardiola make several changes to his starting XI, which may disjoint the champions.
Brighton won this fixture 3-2 last season and go into this showdown unbeaten in six in all competitions – a run based around their defensive strength.
Graham Potter’s men have conceded just two goals in those last six matches and will try and frustrate City for long periods, with the visitors likely to enjoy a huge amount of possession.
The Citizens only two away league wins this season have been 0-1 results and under 2.5 goals on Saturday can be backed at Evens.
All odds correct at time of writing.
