SPORT around the globe is starting to make it’s first, tentative steps back to normality, most notably with the return on the German Bundesliga at the weekend.
Our friends at Bet365 have provided an update on what else is happening this week…
Horse Racing
We are now just two weeks away from the return of UK racing (1s June) and three weeks away from the resumption of Irish racing (8th June), all being well.
French racing is continuing all week as was the case last week with some exciting races set to take place, details of which can be found below:
- Gold River @ Paris Longchamp on Thursday
- Romati and the Durtain @ Compiegne on Friday
- GD PX Bordeaux and the Derby Du Midi @ Bordeux Le Bouscat on Saturday
- De Barberville @ Paris Longchamp on Sunday
There are also a few international races of note this week including the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) takes place on Sunday 24th May over in Tokyo. This is a Group 1 race which should prove popular due to the high-class nature of the field.
The final leg of the Hong Kong Triple Crown takes place at Sha Tin on Sunday (24th May) – the Champions and Chater Cup is the final Group 1 race of the season and the favourite, Exultant, should prove popular with bettors as he looks to be the back-to-back winner of the race and make it a three-timer for trainer Tony Cruz.
Racing over in Australia and the US continues to take place at their usual rate.
Greyhounds
For those who like betting on the dogs, racing continues over in Australia and the US much like the horse racing.
It also looks likely that the UK side of the sport is set to resume on 1st June a recent announcement confirmed all GBGB licensed tracks in England will stage behind-closed-doors races from the beginning of June.
Football
The Bundesliga is into its second week after the restart with Bayern hoping to preserve their lead when they take on Eintracht Frankfurt this coming weekend. Dortmund are away against a strong Wolfsburg side and RB Leipzig will be hoping to redeem themselves after their draw last week against Freiburg.
Other leagues currently in action:
- Bundesliga II
- Belarus Premier League
- South Korea K League 1
- Czech Republic First League (due back 23rd May)
