Four Premier League games tonight and they’re laden with teams desperate for a win.
At Elland Road both Leeds United and West Ham are winless upon their return to action. Jesse Marsch’s side earned a creditable draw at Newcastle but with just four wins this season they need to put some wins on the board.
In the other dugout Davie Moyes badly needs a victory to kickstart the Hammers’ season. They’ve scored just twice in five consecutive defeats and just four away from home all season.
The bookies can barely separate the sides but just make Leeds favourites at 31/20. The Whites seem to have more going for them at the moment and home advantage could swing things in their favour.
Who knows what will happen at Selhurst Park? Both sides have been consistently inconsistent and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte voiced his frustration following their defeat to Aston Villa on New Year’s Day.
24 hours earlier Crystal Palace got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth after a dismal 3-0 home defeat to Fulham on Boxing Day.
It’s a fixture that’s generally favoured the home side. Spurs have won the last four in north London, whilst Palace are unbeaten in the last four at home (W2 D2) so the Eagles at 23/10 might not be the worst bet of the night.
A 2-0 win at Tottenham would suggest that Unai Emery’s influence on Aston Villa is starting to show. Tonight he pits his wits against fellow Spaniard Julen Lopetegui who is trying to make his own mark at Wolves.
It should be a fascinating clash at Villa Park, a ground where Wolves are unbeaten in their last six visits (W3 D3). A lack of goals is still an issue for the vistors though, they’re the lowest scorers in the division with just 10 in 17 games.
Villa look like they have better options going forward and that could make the difference tonight at 10/11.
Tonight also sees the return of Serie A after a 7-week break. Napoli hold a commanding lead at the top of the table, eight points ahead of AC Milan and the chasing pack.
Inter are a further three points behind and I Nerazzurri are Napoli‘s hosts this evening. Defeat for Simone Inzaghi’s side would all but rule them out of the title race. A share of the spoils could be on the cards at 12/5.
Juventus were the form team before they break and tonight they visit the only remaining side with a win in Serie A, Cremonese. But the Old Lady have scored just four goal in seven games so they’ll need to find some improved form outside of Turin if they’re to set about closing in on Napoli. They should claim the win tonight at 7/10.
Bottom of the table Verona are winless on the road (D2 L5) and can’t seem to buy a win so it’s a surprise to see their hosts Torino at 4/5 to win. Their only home defeats have come in the Turin derby and at home to Sassuolo so could be worth getting on side with.
