Newcastle booked their place in the League Cup Final last night and it would be a huge shock if Man Utd don’t join them tonight at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are in the driving seat after a 3-0 win at the City Ground last week and shouldn’t have too much trouble getting it over the line this evening.
It’s a really difficult betting event since United are just 2/5 but can of course afford to lose by a couple of goals. It’s unlikley to happen but to further complicate matters for punters Erik ten Hag could rortate his squad with a very busy schedule ahead in February. So let’s look elsewhere for value tonight.
Sadly none of tonight’s Scottish Premiership matches are live on TV but there a few that catch the eye.
John Beaton is the man in the middle at Tynecastle for what should be cracking clash between Hearts and Rangers. Both teams have been in really good from of late, the Jambos are unbeaten in nine (W6 D3) while the Gers remain unbeaten under new manager Michael Beale (W9 D1).
Beaton has dished out five red cards this season, a tally only beaten by Kevin Clancy (6) who co-incidentally is on VAR in the capital. Rangers have had an opposition player sent off in three of their last four games and a red card in the match is 11/4 at Skybet.
There’s been plenty of VAR controversy in Scotland and both Hearts and Rangers have seen plenty of penaties between them however a penalty to be awarded is a paltry 6/4.
Rangers won their last visit 4-0 but Hearts have kicked on since then, when they were in the midst of a European campaign and should provide a sterner test for Rangers tonight. BTTS pays 7/10 while Over 2.5 is 8/13. Combining both makes for a 21/20 shot in what should be an entertaining affair.
Celtic maintained their nine point lead at the top with a win over Dundee United on Sunday and welcome Livingston to Celtic Park tonight.
Livi have been in good form, unbeaten in six and up in to fourth in the table and they’ve often proven sticky opposition for the Hoops. But Ange Postecoglou’s side are just relentless, especially at home. They had to show some patience at Tannadice on Sunday but normally they’re quick out the blocks. They’ve scored inside the fist half hour in seven of their last nine and have scored inside 15 minutes in 64% of their home games. The first goal line is set low however, at just 21:00 at 5/6.
Corners could be another angle to get onside with Celtic. Their high corner count is well documented but it’s also worth noting that Livi conceded more away from home than any other side in the top flight. They also don’t tend to win too many and have the 3rd lowest average at 3.73 per game.
At Pittodrie managerless Aberdeen entertain St Mirren following the departure of Jim Goodwin on Saturday. The Irishman’s reign ended disasterously with a series of hugely embarrassing defeats. But how many times have we seen a team turn in a performance after a manager departs?
The Buddies have an even worse away record than the Dons so you wouldn’t put it past Aberdeen pulling out a win at even money.

The Caddy’s SuperNap won yet again at the weekend, as well as his other nap and nice 33/1 each-way shot so he’s been in profitable form and a big outright winner feels like it isn’t far away.
