As we approach the business end of World Cup qualifying this week it might be worth an early look at some of the fixtures because there are some serious mismatches coming up and we could see some big wins.
For example, Germany (1/100 v Liechtenstein), Poland (1/14 v Andorra), Hungary (1/100 v San Marino) Denmark (1/25 v Faroe Islands) Turkey (1/100 v Gibraltar), Belgium (1/25 v Estonia) and France (1/20 v Kazakhstan) would net you just £2.50 profit for a tenner stake.
It’s almost impossible to find any value in these matches, even backing all seven to be winning at half-time/full-time pays just over 5/2.
With most of those short-priced teams already qualified or in strong positions in their groups there might be opportunites for some squad players to get a run out and a chance for punters to cash in. For example, Wolsburg’ Lukas Nmecha is pushing for a start for Germany in his home stadium after scoring four for his club this season. He’s 4/9 to score anytime and 9/2 to score first.
There’ll be other examples so it’s worth keeping an eye on the starting XIs close to kick-off.
Scotland need just a win in Moldova to secure second place in their group and with it a place in the play-offs. Worringly for the Tartan Army the bookies make the Scots 2/11 favourites! John McGinn has been Scotland’s biggest goal threat from midfield and he’s 11/5 to score anytime or 7/1 to net first.
A win for England would just about confirm their place at Qatar in 2022. Albania have been a banana skin for a few teams but the Three Lions’ home form is exceptional so it’s 1/8 for a win for Gareth Southgate’s men. It’s hard to look past Harry Kane for a goal but again there might be some value if you’re quick after the teams are announced, for example Arsenal’s in-form Emile Smith Rowe is 7/4 to find the net.
