The relegation battle is in the spotlight again tonight with 16th place Everton and 18th place Leeds United in action.
A win for Everton in their game in hand would put some distance between themselves and the teams below them. Frank Lampard was derided for his team’s approach at Anfield a few weeks ago but that result aside his team have picked up some vital points recently from some tough looking fixtures.
Tonight’s match against Watford looks the most winnable on paper and the worry for Toffees’ fans is that they’re 7/10 favourites, something that seldom fits well with Everton for some reason. That said, the Hornets just want the season to finish. Just two wins at home all season is a horrendous record and they’ve now gone six defeats on the bounce.
There’s a decent hostory of goals when these two teams meet and they’ve shared 12 between them in the last two encounters so Over 2.5 at 20/21 with SBK looks a good option.
Leeds will fancy their chances of three points against a Chelsea side for whom the wheels appear to have come off their season. The Blues are in danger of letting 3rd place slip and there’s a slim possibilility that they could miss out on top four altogether so that should focus the minds at Elland Road tonight.
Jesse March’s side are in the midst of a little run of tough fixtures and while the teams around them have been picking up points they’ve lost their last two to Arsenal and Manchester City.
- Everton – 10 points from the last 15 available (WDLWW)
- Burnley – 10 points from the last 15 available (DWWWL)
- Leeds Utd – 5 points from the last 15 (DWDLL)
On current form Chelsea look a little too short to be backing at 8/13 but as pointed out ahead of their last outing Leeds have a poor record against teams in the upper reaches of the Premier League and a Blues win and Under 4 goals on a Bet365 BetBuilder pays 8/5.
At the other end of the table Manchester City can take a huge step towards retaining the Premier League title with a win at Wolves. Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Villa last night drew them level on points at the top but City now need seven points from their last three games to tie things up.
Reds fans will be hoping that it’s in this one of City’s three remaining games that they drop points but with nothing else to play for Pep Guardiola won’t allow for any complacency. The champions are just 1/4 to win but, up against a Wolves side who rank 4th bottom of the Goals Scored table, a win to nil appeals at 5/6.
Goal machine Erling Haaland will be a City player next season after his £51m release clause was triggered and Betfair have installed him as 11/4 favourite to top the scoring charts next term. Alternatively you can have 16/1 on him also being top marksman in the Champions League. It’s 3/1 that he marks his debut season with 30 or more Premier League goals which is a big ask but you wouldn’t put it past him.
In Scotland, Celtic should officially wrap up the title against Dundee United tonight and reclaim their Premiership crown. Rangers can only match Celtic’s points tally now but Celtic’s 20 goal advantage over their rivals means it’s just a formality for the Hoops to make it 10 titles in 11 years.
Ange Postecoglou’s men could do it in style tonight and it’s 20/21 for them to score three or more, something they’ve done in four of their last six visits to Tannadice, including their last two.
Super Singles
- Watford v Everton – Over 2.5 Goals 20/21 SBK
- Man City win to nil 5/6 Bet365
