Manchester City threw down the gauntlet to the chasing pack with a thumping 7-0 win over Leeds United last night. As well well as moving four points clear of Liverpool and five of Chelsea they did their goal difference no harm in the process.
We’ll need to wait until tomorrow night to see how the title challengers respond with Chelsea at home to Everton and Liverpool hosting Newcastle.
But tonight there’s four Premier League matches all live on BT Sport.
The main event is at the Emirates where 6th-placed Arsenal welcome 4th-placed West Ham for the latest London derby. The Gunners home form has been excellent and they’ve a fantastic record against the Hammers in North London where they’ve won 10 of the last 11 meetings.
West Ham fans must be worried that their team has peaked this season. They’ve won just one of their last five, albeit a very impressive 3-2 victory over Chelsea. Interestingly, David Moyes has never won away at Arsenal, a run of 17 games and that could become 18 tonight. Arsenal are 11/10 to win and when you wigh up their home form versus West Ham’s away form that looks the best option.
Southampton are another team struggling at the moment, without a win in five and there are easier places they could be going tonight than Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace have lost just once there this season (W3 D4 L1) but there’s been too many draws.
The Saints have only scored 14 goals this season and could be without the firepower of Adams, Armstrong and Broja. In the opposite camp Conor Gallagher is in fine form and is the Eagles top goalscorer, hitting six from midfield including a double at the weekend.
At even money Palace appeal but so does the 6/5 on two or more goals for Patrick Viera’s side so it might be worth splitting stakes here.
Brighton v Wolves and Burnley v Watford won’t be matches for the purists and from a betting angle could go either way and are best left alone.
In Scotland, Rangers continue to impress under Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and remain unbeaten under his watch. That should continue tonight against bottom side St Johnstone who have yet to hit double figures in terms of goals this season so far. The Gers have looked more defensively sound since Van Bronckhorst arrived and our old favourite of backing the Gers to win to nil on the agenda at 8/13, as is the Rangers/Rangers HT/FT bet, also at 8/13. Combining both on a BetBuilder pays 23/20.
If it aint broke don’t fix it! Celtic corners landed for us again on Sunday when they ammassed 10 at home to Motherwell. The Hoops are averaging 8.5 per away match and 9.41 overall. Bet365 have Over 7 Celtic Corners at 10/11 (Skybet) and with Ange Postecoglou’s side expcter to dominate possession there should be another high corner count for them in Dinwall tonight. If you’re feeling a bi braver add Over 1.5 Celtic Goals for a 13/8 Bet365 BetBuilder.
