Chelsea take a 2-0 lead in to tonight’s EFL return leg in north London following last week’s win a Stamford Bridge.
Opponents Spurs will need to pull off one of the most memorable nights in the history of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if they’re to make it to the final. They survived a big scare at the weekend after falling behind to Mansfield in the FA Cup but recovered with three goals in the last 16 minutes to win 3-1.
It’ll obviously be a much tougher proposition tonight and they’ll need to do it without Son Heung-min who is out with a muscle problem.
It’s a tricky match to decipher for punters since Chelsea don’t need to win in order to progress. Nevertheless the bookies still make the Blues favourites at 6/4, compared to Spurs’ 7/4.
With that in mind it’s probably better to look elsewhere for a betting angle. After BTTS let us down in last week’s clash again it could be worth going back in. Spurs need to come out and look for a goal and they’re more than capable, even without Son. On the flip-side, that should leave some opportunities for Chelsea to hit on the break. That pays just 7/10 so look to the cards market to boost the odds.
All but Malang Sarr managed to stay out of Craig Pawson’s notebook last week but it could be a different story with all at stake tonight, and with Andre Marriner as the man in the middle. He’s averaging 4.40 cards per game. Adding Over 2 Cards to BTTS takes the odds to 1o just over 11/10.
There’s also a couple of cracking cup matches in Spain and Italy tonight.
El Clasico may not hold the same allure without Messi and Ronaldo these days but the rivalry is cranked up a notch when there’s a cup final place at stake, even if the tie is being held in Saudi Arabia.
Barca have toiled this season and haven’t been able to up their game when it matters often enough. It’s hard to make a case for them against the La Liga leaders here and a Real Madrid win at 10/11 looks the best shout.
In Italy we’ve the Italian Super Cup Final to look forward to on Premier Sports between Inter and Juventus. Tolu has also previewed that one for us.
