There were one or two surprises in last night’s Champions League Qualifiers and there’s a few tricky looking ties at play this evening.
Ferencvaros made it to the group stages two seasons ago and were unfortunate to go out at the Play-Off stage last season so they’ll have ambitions of returning to the top table, esepcially with either Qarabag or FC Zurich lying in wait should the progress in thier tie against Slovan Bratislava.
They won the league at a canter last season and put up a decent showing in a tough Europa League group. They should claim a first leg lead tonight, albeit at a short price of 12/25.
We can double them up with Hibs to score two or more at home to Morton. The Hibees returned to form with a 4-1 over Bonnyrigg on Sunday, following a 1-0 defeat at Falkirk. That’s now nine goals in their three League Cup matches and the Easter Road will be expecting a few more tonight against a Morton side that have already lost 2-0 to League One Clyde.
It’s hard to ingore the Womens’ European Championships at the moment and match of the tournament so far takes place tonight at the Amex Stadium when two pre-tournament favourites meet. Hosts England have sailed through their group, winning all three games, scoring 14 in the process and conceding none.
Tonight’s opponents Spain have been less convincing, needing a last minute goal against Denmark to secure second place in Group B. The sides fought out a 0-0 draw in February and Spain’s lack of firepower could be their undoing tonight.
2021 Ballon d’Or Féminin winner Alexia Putellas misses out, as does former Barcelona Ladies’ striker Jennifer Hermoso so it’s advantage England with a home crowd and swelling momentum the Lionesses should be in good shape to progress inside 90 minutes at 1/1 with SBK.
