Everton were the biggest casualties in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup ties, eliminated by QPR in one of three ties (out of ten) that went all the way to penalty shoot-outs.
Another nine top flight sides participate in the competition on Tuesday night with three all-Premier League ties making up tonight’s fixtures.
Chelsea beat Aston Villa 3-0 earlier in the month but it’ll be much-changed sides that meet at Stamford Bridge tonight. Thomas Tuchel has confirmed as much but to which extent he rotates his squad remains to be seen. He will undoubtedly have an eye on Saturday’s lunchtime clash with Manchester City and a midweek trip to Turin but the bookies still make the Blues favourites at 4/9 to see off Villa.
Man Utd host West Ham and again we can expect to see some unfamiliar faces in both sides line-ups compared to the starting XI when the sides met at the weekend. A Jesse Lingard stunner won the match for United at the death much to the frustration of Hammers fans who’d cheered him to the pitch in recognition of his efforts for thier side on loan last term.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has confirmed that Lingard will start the match and we could steal a march on Bet365 who have him 3/1 to score against his former club for the second time in four days.
The other tie between two Premier League sides see Nuno Espirito Santo return to Molineux with his Tottenham side for the second time this season. The wheels have come off for Spurs, two 3-0 defeats and a Europe Conference League draw with Rennes have dampened the early season enthusiasm.
Wolves haven’t fared much better and are struggling in front of goal but this looks the kind of tie Spurs could lose so they won’t have much support at 11/5.
Elsewhere, Arsenal should take care of Wimbledon at the Emirates and Rangers can put two winless matches behind by seeing-off Livingston at Ibrox in the Scottish League Cup. Add in Under 2.5 goals in Dundee v St Johnstone for a near 2/1 four-fold.
