COLLEGE OAK showed plenty in two starts over timber last season to suggest he can land this prize, including when second to a subsequently 143-rated Grade 2 novice scorer on his first run at Ffos Las. He was a bumper winner at Sedgefield on his reappearance last term and should have no fitness worries today. He can account for Le Grand Rocher, one with potential having joined David Pipe.

Olly Murphy’s in-form Sangha River will be popular here after wins at Southwell and Market Rasen but he’s got another 7lb penalty to shoulder and so something as an each-way alternative is the way to go. CHECK MY PULSE was third on hurdles bow here last month for trainer Rebecca Menzies and has made the frame again since at Perth, he can go well.

2.40 – Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 Handicap Chase (3m)
The old boy AUBUSSON finished a fairly remote third on his comeback at Newton Abbot but it certainly wasn’t a bad effort. He has dropped 5lb below his previous win-mark and this might be a good time to catch the veteran in an open contest.

Jonjo O’Neil Jr and BLACK BUBLE just failed to come from last to first at Bangor last month in a similar event, with all-the-way winner Bannixtown Glory repelling their challenge. He’s gone up 2lb for that effort but it was an encouraging one and he is now on his previous win-mark so another good show is forecast under his talented rider.

3.40 – Follow At The Races On Twitter Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (2m)
Lightening Dance isn’t taken lightly here after a battling win at Southwell last month, she’s 4lb higher under champion jockey Brian Hughes now. David Pipe’s handicap debutante I’LLETYOUGONOW may have strong claims from her opening mark. Useful on the Flat for Mick Channon; she’s finished in the frame in her last two starts in novice hurdles and looks ready for this.

The Stuart Edmunds-trained RED ROYALIST should be well primed for his return to hurdling given some excellent recent efforts on the level. He has twice been pipped at Chepstow and York in handicaps recently after a winning return at Sandown and he was only out of the money once in five previous starts over hurdles. He’s on a nice mark here.

4.40 – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Novices’ Handicap Chase (2m)
Five times a winner over hurdles for Nicky Henderson, BARMAN had missed 855 days from the track prior to his return at Fakenham in March where he ran as the market suggested on debut for Amy Murphy. He now goes chasing with the yard in excellent form and can make a fast start over the larger obstacles in what is a winnable event.

17.10 – Final Furlong Podcast Handicap Chase Division 1 (2m6½f)
A good few of these have question marks against their names but not so SCHNABEL, who was second over C&D this month on his first start for new connections. He’s got a good claiming rider taking off 5lb and finds himself in a weaker race than that one; he may well take advantage with fitness now boosted.

17.10 – Final Furlong Podcast Handicap Chase Division 2 (2m6½f)
Go As You Please has strong credentials after finishing fourth on handicap bow here over shorter last month, with that form working out well. Preference in the finale though sits with FOR JIM. Jennie Candish’s gelding twice scored over fences last year at three miles and also won over hurdles at Perth. He looked in need of the run on his seasonal return at Bangor last month but he’s dropping to a nice mark and can be fancied to win races again soon.
