Union Berlin will welcome a return to home soil on Saturday as they attempt to end a two-game losing streak at the expense of Borussia Monchengladbach.
Home Comforts Key for Union
Back-to-back losses in away matches against RB Leipzig and Augsburg have seen Union Berlin have slip to eighth in the Bundesliga.
They return to the capital for the first time since January 15 when Borussia Monchengladbach come to town for Saturday’s 14:30 clash.
Gladbach have their sights set on a second successive top-four finish this season and the early signs suggest they will be in the running.
A hard-fought 4-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Friday has them sitting fifth and just four points behind second-placed RB Leipzig.
Marco Rose’s men are unbeaten in five but they face a serious test in trying to extend that record at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
Union have lost only once at home this term and look the value bet to win this clash at 47/20
, especially when considering Gladbach boast just two away wins in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund Desperate to Stop the Slide
Interim boss Edin Terzic appeared to be steering the club in the right direction after Lucien Favre’s dismissal, however, the wheels are in danger of coming off once again if they don’t address their current run of form soon.
Dortmund are without a win in three, losing to Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach, while they were held to a draw at home to relegation-threatened Mainz.
Saturday’s meeting with Augsburg, who ended a three-game losing streak last time out, should offer the perfect chance for Dortmund to end their winless run.
Getting behind Dortmund to win and both teams to score, which is available at 13/10
, looks the way to go when taking into recent outings for both clubs.
Both teams have registered in 11 of Dortmund’s last 12 league outings, a 2-0 win against Wolfsburg being the only exception, while Der BVB have found the back of the net in six of their eight matches on the road this term.
Despite enduring a difficult season, Dortmund have still been able to rely heavily on exciting Norwegian hitman Erling Braut Haaland.
The 20-year-old is joint-second in the race to be the Bundesliga’s top scorer, notching 14 times, and he bagged a brace in the 4-2 loss to Gladbach last time out.
He boasts an incredible record of 37 goals in 37 games for the German outfit and can be backed at 4/11
to score anytime against Augsburg.
Bremen to Pile Further Misery on Schalke
Schalke’s struggles started before the lockdown and have continued on throughout the 2020-21 Bundesliga campaign.
After losing 5-0 to Bayern Munich in January 2020, Schalke embarked on a 16-game winless run and they have won just once in 18 outings this term.
Werder will be confident of taking advantage of the rock-bottom side on Saturday when the two clubs clash at Weserstadion.
The Royal Blues have only picked up two points from eight engagements on the road. Therefore, Werder look more than worthy of taking on to win at 20/21
.
